Alot of us who are fond of Yu-Gi-Oh have our opinions. Mine personally is that after the series finale of the YGO main stream show, months later premiered the newer series of the YGO shows: Yu-Gi-Oh GX, a show that never actually features Yugi, ruined YGO's reputation completely.
I am just wondering how many others are out there who agree with me in saying YGO was better off in continuing the original series rather than going too far and trailing it into a seemingly quite lame story.
So the cards followed and made GX decks. I personally believe doing this could have done great damage to the popularity of the franchise.
Tell me what you think?

Should have stayed with with the first one. But no there has been Gx, 5D (card games on motorcycles) (WTH), and now the worse one, Zexal, (card games in space), just life is over.

Yugioh went downhill completely after GX for me.

I loved the original the most, but GX ties for me. I like the feel of it more I guess.

Yugioh should've ended after the original, but I love GX, so It should've ended after either. It's crap now though.

Considering the heart of the franchise is the cards, using the series to promote the cards really does work. GX was really used to highlight 'Hero' monsters and fusions. 5D's was used to highlight Synchros and Zexal for Xyz monsters. The anime is only used to promote the cards, like every other anime used to promote something else, like Pokemon is used to promote the games.

And Yugi was in GX. Get your facts straight before posting. :p

You're the sort of person who makes the franchise go down. You hear of the concept and then say it's completely stupid that it's on D-Wheels. For your information, 5D's os probably the more popular series of them all, ignoring Duel City in the original. The concept is quite creative and it's a lot darker than the other two, so it's more built for a mature audience. And even then it's not like they have every single duel on the motorcycles.

You people watch way too many abridged series'

Sorry i fI didn't have my facts straight. I know Yugi was in the first episode of GX (giving the dude the Koribo card) and disappeared. But would have no idea if he at all came back seeing as the series lost me and stop watching the now pointless show.

The Anime gets lamer and lamer...
-First it was EPIC with cards that find their origins in ancient Egyptian magic... The protagonist is a pharaoh and eventually becomes the champion Not once, not twice, but three whole times...
-Then it comes to an average college student, that does not even hit the Pro league at the end of the story... It also features cards that come from outer space, schizophrenia (talking to one's cards) and, once more, the protagonist has such a low EQ that he does not realize that the most popular girl in the school is in love with him...
-After that, it goes to a gang of punks, that do the most logical thing: DUELS ON MOTORCYCLES!!! . Have you ever tried to even cross your hands when on a motorcycle? NOT POSSIBLE! Even the most experienced drivers would find it impossible to even draw a card... I mean, come on? what the hell is up with that?
-Finally, we go to a typical LOSER who can not duel without the help of the alien that possess him... I haven't seen it yet, but I'm pretty sure they will make things even worse...

Also, this anime features nice values, like: you are just average, and cannot overcome your problems (or duel) if you are not possessed by one of the following:
-Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh
-Bisexual Hermaphrodite Spirit
-Dragon
-Alien Entity...

Why do I keep watching?... well, I like the card game, and sometimes the plot is nice... that's all. But I REALLY wanna see the first series continuing, I just can't see how... although I got some ideas...

He came back in thr last episodes to challenge Jaden to a duel.

But if they were to continue Yugioh as Yugioh and no other adaptations, how would they be able to do it. After Yugi lost Atem there's really no need for more of the show. Having the different adaptation such as 5D's really shows how the game is still popular for different areas of the world and that it can be still popular after a few years.

I like the abridged better... guess I'm one of those people... Alt's talking about.... I watched Yu Gi Oh than Yu Gi Oh Gx up until about the middle of Gx then it went off the air or something and I stopped watching it... Never finished Gx then watched 5Ds for a while then it switched stations and is now only on, on Saturdays. I watched some of it but probably haven't seen half of the episodes. As for Zexal I've seen about 4 episodes of it... O_O

Once Atem had recovered his memories, he was able to go home back into Ancient Egypt, along with the Millenium Items, but for that to happen Atem had to lose in a duel to Yugi. He didn't want his duelling credibility to be broken either, so he wouldn't lose on purpose. Instead this was more a test for Yugi to see how much he's grown in duelling. Needless to say Yugi won and Atem went home.
Spoilered just in case people don't wanna know what happened.

O_O I like the abridged better... guess I'm one of those people... Alt's talking about....
I said if it gets to degrading the series as a whole because it's got motorcycles in it, then you'd be one of those people. You can't exactly say something's bad unless you've seen it.
