It was the yata mirror that nullified the attack, not his susano'o.and another thing, itachi's susano'o withstood the full force of kirin which wiped the surrounding area and the building they were standing on.
gai will kill himself before he even damages a COMPLETE susano'o, he would have to use that attack he did on kisame right away, and that would end him, and it still might not get past his susano'o

His susanoo has yata mirror and sword of totsuka. You must be registered for see images
it was his susano'o
and this is the next page

yes but you see, you're putting your assumptions over the manga, itachi doesn't show his yata, and says " if it wasn't for this, I would be done for". he was clearly talking about his susano'o, that is what the manga put it.His susanoo has yata mirror and sword of totsuka.
sasuke was looking into his eyes at that time. gai would be looking a his feet. plus he knew that only sauke was capable of breaking his tsukuyomi.Lulz we all know gai isnt winning. He'll just die for no reason opening the 8th gate.
Also can argue that itachi can catch him in tsukuyomi.
Sure gai would try and not look at his eyes when he fights, but itachi has so many ways in which he can catch gai in tsukuyomi, by gaining eye contact.
Just like the way he dispersed into crows and came at sasuke, then used tsukuyomi he can do the same
exactly, that would be the so stupid for gai to do, because he would achieve nothingLulz we all know gai isnt winning. He'll just die for no reason opening the 8th gate.

Nope its itachi who caught him off guard and gained eye contactsasuke was looking into his eyes at that time. gai would be looking a his feet. plus he knew that only sauke was capable of breaking his tsukuyomi.
And his susano'o has the items. That isn't an assumption.yes but you see, you're putting your assumptions over the manga, itachi doesn't show his yata, and says " if it wasn't for this, I would be done for". he was clearly talking about his susano'o, that is what the manga put it.
he gets hit with kirin, gets up and shows his susano'o and says: If I didn't have this, I'd be done for. plus we know that susano'o is a defense, when you read that page you know it was his susano'o that saved him. anything else is an assumptionAnd his susano'o has the items. it isn't an assumption when later on he shows having the yata mirror.he gets hit with kirin, gets up and shows his susano'o and says: If I didn't have this, I'd be done for. plus we know that susano'o is a defense, when you read that page you know it was his susano'o that saved him. anything else is an assumption
1. itachi states that it was his susano'oit isn't an assumption when later on he shows having the yata mirror.
but then again, susano'o isn't an absolute defense, as it was broken by 4th raikage several times. A lightning jutsu of kirin's scale and magnitude would most likely have broken through an incomplete susanoo. the yata mirror was shown so that the readers would know that with the sword of totsuka and yata mirror, that he becomes invincible.1. itachi states that it was his susano'o
2. yata wasn't even shown
3. we know susano'o is itself a defense, that is one of it's purposes, to defend.
the assumption is coming in when you basically say: itachi has yata so it must have been that, even though he wasn't showing it then, they showed it later.
you see the assumption you're making?
