should i watch all of one piece

i want to catch up to the manga of one piece but im only on episode 340 of anime. im not gonna watch the fillers but should i watch every other episode that follows the manga or can i just read the summary of some episodes and watch the good one.
i say this because some episodes are boring and my brother keeps saying that it get sooooooooo much better later and i havent seen nothing yet
