I wanted her to join too!!!! But Noah is waiting for her to be guided. I do not see the purpose of Noah if she joins the crew. Moreover, Luffy was getting ready to run away to new world if not for Neptune's invitation. I do not see him trying to even ask Shirahoshi to join. I still wish her to join though!!! Being Poseidon had me thinking of her joining would overpower the crew!!! But then she still has along way to control her powers!!! And there is this person who will guide her and I do not see this person to be other than Luffy?

Either way, maybe he was THE D carrier, like Gol D Roger is THE D carrier of his time and Luffy is THE D carrier of this time. In fact, what if being the Pirate King as a different meaning? Maybe (Almost certain) Gol D Roger's purpose was not to become the Pirate King, but to follow the steps of Joy Boy (The original D carrier, not that he was the only one with a D, just the more important), and then, with his achievement, the term Pirate King was forged. Luffy is following Roger for different reasons and bearing the Pirate King tittle in mind, but he will soon find out Roger's true motives and shift his gold.

Roger could hear the voice of all things right. And with this power he was probably able to deduce most of the poneglyphs. I guess his initial motive was to conquer grandline but might have changed as he come across the revealing facts behind poneglyphs. I doubt Luffy would ever change his goal of becoming Pirate King and he I do not see him interested about the Void Century or Will of D or Joy Boy. His passion is only to become the one to have all the freedom in the world which he does without taking the trouble to THINK.
Moreover, the presence of Robin in the crew is to deduct about the void century and I guess Oda will leave all the reasoning to her.

Here's my take on Joy Boy and D.

It might be possible that Neptune was alive during that time Joy Boy was kicking it on Fishman Island?
Joy Boy's real name consists of the D similar to what Lili stated
Joy Boy is from the Royal Country or whatever
D are apart of the Royal Family, Joy Boy was the heir but died before bringing Fishman Island back up and assuming his role as King, Emperor blah blah blah
Joy Boy planted the Devil Fruit Tree (jokes)
East Blue was the Location of the Country
Gol D. Roger was a direct descendant of Joy Boy.

Who knows.

You are stating your theory similar to that of Skypia Arc and I do not think Oda would make that error in judgement to redo a whole arc on similar story!!! No I cannot accept your theory only for its similarities.

As for he being a D carrier, I would agree that its plausible. If he is a carrier of the "D" then Gol D. Roger may be a descendant of Joy Boy but probably not direct.
