every named databook genjutsu is called short ranged by Kishimoto himself, if you say he can pull a long ranged one out of his ass then Nagato can pull a genjutsu breaker out of his bony ass too.

All of itachi's genjutsu's aren't in the databook
and the ones like tsukyomi and the one he used on Oro are short range..... He clearly got sasuke in a genjutsu from a huge distance..

Nagato freaking mastered the paths of the rinnegan he is using jutsus that were used by the freaking sage of 6 paths and he used them well. Nagato would beat Itachi only chance Itachi has is to end it quickly because Nagato stamina is off the charts.

no itachi didnt defeat nagato when he cut off his arms because he could have grown new arms via asura path going by cannon. going by cannon amaterasu is shinra tenseid. going by cannon itachi set himself to genjutsu any opponent that looked in his eyes and nagato still wasnt caught in gen. going by cannon susano is chibaku tenseid. going by cannon itachi needed naruto and bee by his side to stand a chance against nagato or itachi would be trapped in chibaku tensei right now. going by cannon itachi gets owned by nagato if itachi is alone.

he didnt get Sasuke from a huge distance. It was a crow clone and its the same clone tech he used to go see Naruto. This is also proved to be not genjutsu by the rest of Sasuke's team seeing the crow feathers. The saying 'come to the hideout' isnt genjutsu, Oro has done it before, he used Shunshin no jutsu and left Anko in part 1 but his voice said 'I'll destroy Konoha'

Nobody has been able to show me a source and proof that the manga says that if a target is under the control of Edo Jutsu he is weaker than his original free form. Unless you can proof this, stop making shit up ok?
Second, from what the manga we can see that Edo Jutsu actually made Ultimate Nagato stronger by giving him free regenerations! Yet Itachi wins and defeats Nagato because of how ridicoulesly strong Itachi is. Sword of Totsuka for the win
Not even Ultimate Nagato + Unlimited regenerates could save him vs Itachi lol my technical counter-he wouldnt have landed the first killing strike if it werent for the crow that came out of Naruto's mouth and he wouldnt have landed the second strike if it werent for Nagato busy holding Naruto and Bee but with or without Naruto and Bee, Nagato can use CT. Whether Itachi can escape alone is irrelevant because Nagato doesnt need to use CT, He can easily drag Itachi out of Susanoo and kill him with his missiles as Ive stated before.

This however has exceptions , For eg When the edo is fighting on their own free will Ie - Madara, He knows his capabilities, and is doing the stuff, Kabuto knew nothing of what madara could do, that meteor jutsu etc, which is why he asked madara to show him his power before taking control of him
