Naruto and Utakata met in a filler, they won't recognize each other in neither manga or anime, since it was just a filler that they knew each other.

Well the 8 tails did reference Yugito. So Naruto will probably reference Utakata in the anime too, but there won't be any conversation between them. All those who thought Naruto would recognize Utakata in the manga were a little off base.

Yeah just like with the sasuke rescue mission remember, shino was upset he wasn't invited and kiba mentioned it stating as the last mission in the manga. In the anime they've change it up before that they went on that mission Filler episodes (guren) and shino was included so in anime to changed the monolog and called sasuke rescue mission on that exact seen.

Utakata's ARC wasn't really a full filler. It was only made to make Naruto more sad. The arc was about how teacher-student relationship is important, but it happened the same time Jiraiya died while battling Pain.

Not only that,
The script was written by Masashi Kishimoto to it too.
