MS propably awakens after mental stress and to my knowledge Kakashi hasn't recently experienced anything dramatic. Could it be?

dude, that guy witnessed the suicide of his father, his best friend sacriced his life to save him in front of his eyes, ( unknown reason for this ) he lived trough rins death, His sensei died. His whole family and team got killed, all of his presuccessors ( minato > jiraiya > hiruzen ) died. The only thing this guy has from his precious past is naruto, his sensei's son. Besides that he only has gai as close friend and you're saying he didn't experienced anything dramatic ? The most logical thing for kakashi's MS is MOST likely ( i think its 100% true ) gained trough selfblaming for obito's death.MS propably awakens after mental stress and to my knowledge Kakashi hasn't recently experienced anything dramatic. Personally I think that Kakashi gained his MS through meditating on thoughts of his friends deaths.
He blames himself for Obito's loss. He still hasn't gotten over it, because he still visits the grave. We don't know how Rin died, but he told Obito he'd protect Rin because Obito loved her, yet she still died.
Think back when Jiraiya was dying to Pain.
Jiraiya said that he failed to protect his student AND teacher.
Itachi lost his teacher to the Kyuubi, who he wasn't even allowed to fight at the time despite gaining the Sharingan. He also, in a sense, "lost" Sasuke.
Kamui was stated in the guidebooks to be something that you achieve through some form of special training, but it seems to me that Kakashi just meditated on the deaths of those he lost. His Dad being included in this. If you remember, Kakashi said this to Sasuke...
All in all, if everyone close to Kakashi has died, and severe mental trauma is what what causes the Mangekyo to awaken, then what you said could also work as well as what I said xd.

MS is awaken by feeling the heavy loss of a close friend. Kakashi was the reason for Obito's death and he felt it deeply. And Kakashi still lost Rin sometime later, which also must've been heavy.
Kakashi lost everyone he ever loved. In other words, he experianced loss to the extreme. That's how he gained MS. He just never used/had it because of his inexperiance and he wasn't a Uchiha anyways, hence their will be consequences.

For example, something like:
"I couldn't save my master. My best friend. I promised I'd protect Rin but... And now... I couldn't save my student, either.."

We do not know what events cause Kakashi to develop His new eye tech, could have been a certain battle or reading one of Jiraiya *** novel Manga and Kishi have yet to tell us.

Kakashi's activation of his MS coincides with the activation of his MS ability called Kamui. We know for a fact how Kamui is activated as stated by the 3rd Databook.:
"This technique" being Kamui, of course. We all know that Kakashi needs to "equip" his MS in order to use Kamui which means that the two go hand in hand. Which means that Kakashi activated his MS by training his chakra over and over just like the third Databook stated. This all makes sense when one considers that Kakashi never had much chakra to begin with forcing him to train his chakra in order to use his chakra more efficiently. And combine that with his chakra intensive lightning techniques and his transplanted Sharingan and that definitely forces Kakashi to train his chakra over and over and over.
And that is how Kakashi activated his Mangekyou Sharingan. Kakashi lost a ton of close people throughout his life and yet his MS never activated during those heart wrenching incidences. Plus, on top of that, Kakashi actually awoke his MS during a time of peace and he actually seamed happier just before the time-skip. So, that leaves what the 3rd Databook says on the subject as the only plausable, and more importantly, known reason.
