I'm thinking its because that they were strong when they had them as their students but now they have grown and both of them are strong than orochimaru(spelling) and madara... they are past their peaks of strength and glory ... thats what i think

I can agree to that. I think he's trying to get the point across that the characters being spoken about are no longer at their strongest. He wants us to realize that if the battle had taken place under different circumstances the results would be different. The Sasuke vs. Orochimaru fight is the perfect example. The physical fight was easy for Sasuke since Orochimaru's body was already nearing death. Now, the mental battle was won with pure nerve and strength. So props to Sasuke for will power!

ITS A PROCESS, Sasuke NEW WHAT HID FORMER TEACHER WAS UP TO AND IN HIS WEAKENED STATE SASUKE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THIS SITUATION. BUT EVERY GENERATION MUST SURPASS THE NEXT.
