Narutos promise...?

he promise sakura at the end of the first naruto that he would bring sasuke back, in shippuden, she tells him to forget the promise he made:flaw:

why is naruto so hell bent on keeping that promise? isn't better he forget that promise?:shrug:
what do you have to say about this?

He's not going after Sasuke just because of the promise he made to Sakura. That was the initial reason, because (a) he loves her and doesn't want to let down and (b) he doesn't go back on his word.

However, after the Invasion of Pain, and understanding more about revenge, Naruto wants to save Sasuke from its consequences and the damage it can do. Plus, Sasuke is like a brother to Naruto, as Naruto told Sai, "He's one of the first people who accepted me". So they have a really strong bond... according to Naruto anyway.
