Sasuke, Raikage, Naruto. Sasuke, Raikage, Naruto. Sasuke, Raikage, Naruto. We’ve seen these same three characters (four if you include young Naruto) at the last few video game expos featuring Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. Developer CyberConnect2 has actually been quietly making improvements and showing off updated builds at each new expo. This includes the addition of a substitution jutsu meter, gameplay animation changes, and character icon updates. One update that went unnoticed to us here at Saiyan Island was caught by a kind and friendly Island fan, spyN09! What was the improvement? Chakra air dash! If you play Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, you will notice after pressing Chakra + Jump a chakra dash will be performed. The thing is whether you are jumping forward, backward or just performed a substitution and are in the air, pressing Chakra + Jump will swiftly plant the character to the ground first before having them dash forward.
So where is the confirmation for this? Well, watching about 29 seconds into the video below from Paris Games Week 2011, you’ll note Sasuke does a substitution jutsu and then a chakra air dash. The reason our title here on Saiyan Island for this news post is “possibly” confirmed because this A) may be just a Sasuke move or B) it may be a ninja dash (which is in the air by default) and it just looks like a chakra air dash to us.
We have gone through some of the past videos to further research this possible feature and 1:05 into the second video in the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations at Paris Games Week post, it also looks like Sasuke does a chakra air dash there too. Do you agree it’s a chakra air dash? Or do you think it’s just a ninja dash playing tricks on our eyes?
Chakra Dash = High-speed movement which uses chakra. Performed by pressing Chakra+Jump (Triangle+X in PS3)
Ninja dash = Normal speed movement which does not use chakra. Performed by pressing Jump+Jump (X+X in PS3)
