The Genjutsu he gave to naruto was intended for Sasuke, since Sasuke would have Itachi's eyes, the crow would automatically react when it sees Itachi's MS, so during the fight, Itach activated his MS, and BOOM

well, maybe cause it was because of SHISUI´S power that he is free + no he´s not stronger than Madara
Did any of you just see Madara drop a 2 meteors on the battle field? Madara seems to not care or be aware that Kabuto is using him for his own purposes...I'm waiting to see how it all falls apart now. Granny Tsunande is about to wreck something and I am looking forward to her doing so in a grand fashion

I wouldn't say that Itachi is stronger than Madara, but as far as his insight and instinct goes, he got not only him but at least 80% of the narutoverse beat in that area. He could see things happening and was able to counter act it even from the grave. And yea his sharingan was intended to be used against Sasuke, but I guess one way or another it still came out useful since he knew that eventually it will come down to Sasuke and Naruto in the end...the two prodigal children, the descendents of the SO6P own two sons or maybe a reincarnation of the two...how you see it.
