it has to involve leveling up of some kind, and weapons

tbh, the game has a pretty big story line, but to sum it up its about these 6 classes; some are gender based, but later on they'll add the other gender, that basically try to stop the main evil power Bakal (the dragon king) who has cause soo many problems in their world.

if you like arcade style games yeah it worth playing, since you dont see so many of this type of game online, i currently play DFO everyday, at least 6 hrs

also Bakal isnt really the bad guy, the story behind it gives it a twist and the quests you finish gives cues to it

you can try Gunz, its a great third person game, u get swords, guns, grenades, you can wall run, dash, do some crazy flips, i warn you tho its a hard game to get used to, YOU WILL GET YOUR ASS KICKED for along time, until you get good. definitely not a game to play if you have no patience and hate getting shotgunned in the face but yea drgunz.net is the site to download it, completely free unless you wanna but addons which arent necessary, i suggest watching a youtube vid ^.^ if you actually play it lemme know cuz i play it too.

Try theninja-rpg, it is good based on naruto world, but it is text type, no graphics but it worth a try, i am playing it for over one year.

im telling you man gunz is where its at, if you youtube a video of the gameplay you'll see how intense and crazy the fights get, swords and bullets flying all over the place, people running on walls come swooping in out of nowhere and stun the crap out of you then SLICEE YOU DEAD BRO!, shits awesome best keyboard mashing game ever.
