eveyone keeps saying you need senju and uchiha both to unlock rinnegan well are they not both from the sage of six paths one is the older brother and one from younger brother so i guess what i am saying is they have the same dna. anyway unless they have differnt mothers or did i miss something somewhere?

Well they were both gifted with different things. Younger has the body, older had the eyes. There is more to it but that's the basic. Both those = the so6p. 1st hokage = younger brother (senju) and only him... While uchiha it could be anyone or else someone specific. The older brother didn't have a rinnengan it's more of a crossbreed between the rinnengan and sharingan. Which is probably why you need both.

well, theoretically. but then, I guess the blood ties between the older and younger brother must have thinned out super thin. still, doesn't the maternal or mitochondrial DNA or something always stay the same? So I don't know...

mitochondira has its own dna and is always same as mothers!

if it was like it was before, the rinnegan appears after some generations, then I would say either of them could get it, but now that it looks like it's an advancement of the sharingan, I don't think senju could get it at all. though i'm sure if they took it from an uchiha, it would work just as well because of their bloodline

i guess the big thing would be the mothers of both clans "watering" down the blood line over the years
