how is he going to hit sai since he can fly. Aslo my man sai is an anbu and rock lee and neji is jounin and chunin.

Shikamaru and Shino are genius fighters just like Neji. To me Shikamaru's and Shino's intellectual abilities exceed Neji's individually. Combine they are too much for the Neji. Lee's wits don't provide any help to Neji in that category so that's one that goes to the team of five. Not to mention the two shinobi are outnumbered, which puts them at that slight disadvantage. Sai is also very smart and he has enough skills to goe toe to toe with either Neji or Lee (could he beat them individually...idk) Choji is becoming more and more of a badass so I wouldn't count him out. Kiba...we can't...he's...Kiba is there (jk, we can't really underestimate Kiba since we haven't seen much but he provides a fair amount of contribution to the team. He's fast and with Akamaru he could possibly keep up with at least Neji on foot)
Now Neji is a genius shinobi, said to hold the highest potential of the Hyuugas. He gained Jounin status (although that's really only status at this point in time. Shikamaru, Sai, and Shino at least deserve those titles. Sasuke and Naruto are still genin so rank isn't really what it used to be). He has the Byakugan and is a master in it. Lee has at least 6 gates so that gives him a drastic boost in speed and power, however that is not permanent and he's left exhausted after use of the gates. IMO this goes to the five
Team Shika=numbers, intellect, well rounded skills, overall skill as a whole unit. They have all that over team Neji and Lee IMO

the five gates arnt somthing he just uses right out of the start, they are more of a last resort so shikamaru would have plenty of time before he used them to come up with a counter
