Whose Smarter Itachi or Shikamaru

shikamaru is smarter, itachi is wiser and has experience . but to answer your pole; shikamaru hands down.

(shika wasnt there so he isnt included)). shikamaru lost the hidan vs asuma and shika battle. does that make him stupid? Hell no. Shika lost against temari in the chuunin exams. Does that make temari smarter than him? HELL NO. what the hell are u talking about? so if u dont win u arent smart?? and intellegence is only battle related? I will be honest it seems like ur trying to support shika as much as u can. I like shika. I think he is REALLY smart. But he isnt on itachi yondaime and madaras level of intellect

Don't get all crazy.

Second, Itachi is really smart, I am not saying he is not.
Its just that having the time to plan what you are going to do in a battle against an opponent who is much weaker than you is not as good as coming up with MULTIPLE plans in battle and winning against an opponent who is much stronger than you.

God , Itachi is a genius , while Shikamaru is textbook Smart , he can only deduct Problems that derive from other factors .

While Itachi does not need such kind of thinking , he knows that this specific Situation WILL occur in the future

OMG! i was waiting for some1 to say that. the kakashi saying he is the same IQ as shika. there was another poll people had about this same subject "itachi turned out to win in the end and strangely all the shikamaru voters agreed lol." because of that one fact. I never knew where it was in the anime though. but they said that kakashi is just as smart as shikamaru is. But if u can find that in the manga that alone is the proof to end this poll lol. cause noone in their right mind would say itachi isnt smarter than kakashi lol. or am i wrong? would people say kakashi is too smarter than itachi lol?

kakashi stated "I have the same IQ as shikamaru" and kakashi made it seem like he was giving itachi credit as being the smarter of the two when they fought, stating "this is a guy who was chief commander of anbu at age 13" and we've seen how quickly he analyzed and broke the chibaku tensei, he immediately found out the weak spot and knew how to destroy it, and he spoke with such confidence, notice he never said "if", he said "this will break his jutsu" I think this is because of his experience also, and that is what makes him a smarter ninja, he never really panics but just analyze everything. but shikamaru is dangerously smart though. I just think itachi's experience makes him a smarter ninja, it has taught him how to deal with really difficult situations. and just think, if itachi had a really strong jutsu, he could have figured out and destroyed the same justu that is suppose to have created the moon all on his own in mere seconds!!

itachi got what he wanted out of that battle so he did win,

look at it this way, here's a sick and dying man who is waiting to fight his brother, whom techniques he does not know, all the while having it in his head to fight him in a battle, seal oro!! and then putting amaterasu in his eye to use against madara!!

That doesn't equate to battle smart, he had the luxury of planning what he was going to do before the battle, he was able to accomlish it because he was much stronger than that sasuke.

here's sasuke, full of energy, thinking he has a plan, have every intentions on killing itachi, first planning on breaking tsukyomi, then waiting for him to use amaterasu so he can do kirin. only to find out later when madara said "itachi planned that entire battle"

He didn't plan on breaking tsukyomi, if he did, he would have directly challenged it, instead of itachi having to use crows as a distraction to get sasuke in it.

and we saw itachi's quick analysis when fighting nagato, and it seems like the way you're looking at this is that itachi is just unfortunate to not have had an opponent that outclasses him so he could show his strategic battle planning.

Hell yeah, itachi is smart, but when up against a technique that is more powerful than him, he has to have help to break it (naruto and bee).

Shikamaru continually outsmarts and beats opponents who he shouldn't beat.

yep saw it, which is why I say itachi is really battle smart, but still not shikamaru smart.

another thing is itachi plans ahead every step of the way and know when to back out of a situation.

You don't have to count on character's statements to conclude your decision,you just have to plainly rely on feats portrayed by both of them and deduce who is smarter. By hype,Itachi is just way smarter.By feats,Shikamaru is arguably smarter
