Yin U_U is the spiritual energy that governs the imagination, which can be used to create a form out of nothingness

Yang U_U is the physical energy that governs vitality, which can be used to bring life into form.

Yin-Yang U_U makes the simultaneous use of both Yin and Yang. As mentioned before Yin relates to the users Spiritual Energy as the Yang relates to their Physical, which is needed to mold their chakra for Ninjutsu. U_U

Yin release can be considered to be the basis of Genjutsu where it shows a fantasy hence create form in nothingness. A prime example of this would be the Yamanaka's clan technique and the 2nd Mizukage's clams illusion technique.

Yang release can be considered the basis of any jutsu that makes a form. A prime example would be the Nara clans shadow possession and the Senju Clans Mokuton (Wood Release) which would be the main symbolism for bringing Life to form.
