Ok Question... I know that one can buy a cable to connect your laptop to certain tvs, but can it go the other way? can I watch was would be on the tv on my laptop? The only reason I would want to is to see games on it. Anyway, hopefully it's possible and someone here knows how. Thanks for the help!

Why would you want to do that in the first place ? Is your TV screen smaller than your laptop's ?

No, my although my laptop is unusually large, it is indeed smaller than my tv lol xd I'm really just curious. I watch a web site that streams video games to the internet and I was kinda wondering how they did it. I found that you could download a program to stream your desktop to the net and so i figured they must have some way to get the tv onto their computer. lol i'm not terrible, but i'm no electronic genius either. Just trying to understand.

it is possible to do it..but it cannot be done with a laptop

You will need the graphics display cable [only availabe on desktop] it runs from the CPU to the monitor, to display it on a tv, it will need to have a PC plugin, if that is available, unplug the part connected to the monitor and put it in the TV, it will work fine, everything will work, internet, games etc.

I've done it many times...

If your TV has an HDMI out, and your laptop has an HDMI input you can do it. Otherwise you need to purchase an adapter for your laptop. There are different options.
  • DVI
  • S-Video (but you'll need a seperate audio cable)
  • VGA (also needs a seperate audio cable)
  • USB TV tuner (external box)
Research before you buy anything. There's plenty of information online.

You're wrong.

There are many ways to hook a laptop up to TV in order to see on your laptop screen what is on the TV/vice versa. First you have to elaborate on which you would like. If you want to hook your laptop up to your TV so you can watch this stream on your TV then there's a few way's to do so. Gama listed a few, and the fastest/easiest is by using HDMI.

Although there are other options, that also have already been posted. We can help you out more if you can post the exact Laptop/TV that you have and what inputs they have.

I have a laptop with a firewire/VGA/HDMI/USB input so I can hook mine up to my TV very easily, you do not need a desktop. Just post the laptop/TV you have right now and we can help you out more.

lol..Dell is the best..^_^

Well... listing all of the inputs in my laptop would be easier if I knew what all of the slots were for! Okay, my manual says I have:
-An External Monitor Port
-An HDMI port
-A Network Jack
Any of that sound helpful?
