I thought you meant like fighting in the manga where they'll confront eachother gaara with all his division behind him and deidara and the rest of guy...

It would be a very close match that i could see tipping either way. Gaara has some really good tactics and after his previous fight with Deidara, he knows many of his jutsu. But that doesnt ensure victory. Id say the scales are slightly tipped in deidara's favor only because he has beaten Gaara before and Id say he could again as edo tensei

1. Gaara is not stronger. He may be difficult opponent for Deidara, but hes not overall stronger.
2. Deidara proven hismelf to be far better strategist than Gaara, so no, Gaara is not smarter, at leas not battle-wise.
