I have Win7, and I have 2 partitions, C: (win), and D: (random), and I want to crop some of the space on D:\ and turn it into unpartitioned space, without any loss of data. Or rather, I want to know if it's possible. I've read some suggestions on other sites, all of them reffering to a certain Partition Magic software, but it's a little different here, as I want to use the unpartitioned space to create an ext4 file system for a Linux OS, not a NTFS or FAT file system, which is why I am personally asking.

Never Mind. After I tried to run Partition Magic, it crashed, I got the blue screen of death, and after I rebooted, my D:\ partition magically disappeared.
Talk about freaky shit.

Why are you trying to partition space for an ext4 file system? After you partition the space for linux, let whatever distro's install script take care of the file systems for you. If you're hell bent on doing it yourself I would recommend ext2 for a boot partition, a swap partition and everything else ext3.

Did it manually this time, don't trust the guided partitioning any more. Will this do ?
