After infusing chakra into the victim's shadow, the user makes their own body as flat as possible. Then, by becoming one with the shadow, this technique temporarily establishes control over the victim's mind and body. While the technique is in effect, the victim is temporarily stunned and can serve as a human shield. The user has to hold their breath, but they can talk through the victim. As soon as the user's breathing recommences, the technique is cancelled and their ultra-thin body expands again retaking its original thickness.

The Nara clan (奈良一族, Nara Ichizoku) or Nara family (奈良家, Nara-ke) is known for their manipulation of shadows and tending of deer, which graze in a large area of Nara clan forest. Shikaku Nara is the current head of the clan.
They have kept a book with medicine preparations and effects for generations which imply they are skilled in the area of medicine. Among the medicine described in this book are the secret pills used by the Akimichi clan.

Despite being considered geniuses, the men from this family are prone to being lazy and hard to motivate, but once the situation calls for it, they are very determined and loyal. Ironically, they tend to be attracted to stern, overbearing women. However, there appear to be other factors as well. The Nara men seem to hold women in high esteem, and as a result, willingly defer to their female partners. Shikaku Nara tells his son "Without women, men can't be born. Without women, men go to ruin. Even the hardest of women will show a sweet side to the man she loves and respects."

The Nara clan has a special relationship with the Akimichi and Yamanaka clan. For generations, members of these three families have formed "Ino-Shika-Chō" trios, named after the first part of the names of the members with the Nara members being the "Shika" in the trio. To strengthen the unity between the three clans, a member of the Sarutobi clan will give them special earrings to present to each generation head when they are promoted to chūnin after which they will swear their oaths. The earrings also symbolise that they are considered adults by their respective clans.

In the anime, the Nara clan has a research laboratory with an abundance of medicines stored in it. It is located deep in the mountains, and thus has little security. Mizuki raided this laboratory for ingredients for his cursed seal.[1]

I see your point, but Nara mainly manipulates their shadow, to make a connection to the other person. Although, this probably could be learned by them.

Jiraiya use of shadows here is totally different than everything we've seen from the Nara clan. Their shadow techniques are mainly attacking and delaying. We haven't seen any member of the clan use such a stealthy technique. The technique was also a toad techinque not simply a shadow technique.

maybe more advanced offensive juts like a shadow pillar

and as for that toad technique naruto should have it in his aresnal

I never seen it at this point of view, I think you're right about this, the Nara clan are the only ones to control shadows so Jiraiya could have been trained by a member of the clan.

It sounds like it could be a Nara Technique since it paralyzes the opponent. I've looked around and there is no indication that Nara techniques require Kekkei genkai's. So theoretically, anyone is capable of learning those techniques.

I think Shikamaru once told naruto or someone something that implied that the shadow imitation technique requires intellect to learn it. But for the life of me, I cant seem to find the source of that. I don't have the patients. So take it with a couple of grains of salt.

Kekkai Genkai

ekkei genkai (血継限界; Literally meaning "a technique limited to inheritance by blood" or "Bloodline Limit") are abilities passed down genetically in specific clans. It's possible for a ninja to have more than one of these abilities. Kekkei genkai abilities that work via the user's eye are called dōjutsu. Other kekkei genkai include mixing one type of elemental chakra with another, creating a new one unique to the users, which is usually impossible for normal ninja.
Kekkei genkai and their related techniques cannot be taught to or copied by others. However, kekkei genkai can be given to others. Dōjutsu, or other kekkei genkai isolated to a single organ, can be transplanted into the body of another, as was done with transferring Obito's Sharingan to Kakashi. Use of these organs requires much more chakra than someone born with the kekkei genkai. Chakra elements can also be passed down to people outside of the clan, such as Yamato going through Orochimaru's DNA re-modification to acquire the Wood Release technique. However, Yamato's skill in using it is not nearly as powerful as the original practitioner, Hashirama Senju.

Although kekkei genkai are usually genetically shared within a specific clan, sometimes it is unique to one person alone, and that even family relatives do not share it, such as the Wood Release and Shikotsumyaku. Yet other kekkei genkai seem to appear in individuals with no known relation, such as the Lava Release, which has appeared in ninja from both Kirigakure and Iwagakure, and Magnet Release, which has appeared in ninja from both Kumogakure and Sunagakure.

There is an advanced variant of kekkei genkai known as kekkei tōta.

Hiden (秘伝; Literally meaning "Secret") techniques are passed down from generation to generation in certain regions or clans.
The groups possessing these techniques are usually extremely secretive about them. They ensure that no one other than the members of the group learn them. Only a few hiden techniques require a special ability or lineage. These techniques are usually the pride and fame of the clan that possesses them. The Nara clan's Shadow Imitation Technique and the Aburame clan's Parasitic Destruction Insect Technique are some examples of this.

They are not to be confused with kekkei genkai, a technique that require a specific genetic ability, as technically, hiden techniques can be taught to anyone.

Well Jiraiya was a pervert at a young age. He probably invented this technique to spy on naked girls

most of the time where theres a clan threat the thread changes the topic with a different type of clan it happens allot when it comes to clan thread wise
