During the 20 century people seemed to like rock and metal, there were great bands like Guns n' Roses, Nirvana, Slayer, Metallica and before these bands there were Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelins, it seemed that people liked these bands a lot and the others I mentioned, it was like a flow which didn't stop, then at the end of 20th century punk/grunge became famous, people were liking those two types of genres too. At the beginning of the 21th century, people started to like pop/rap/RnB and they stopped listening to these kind of music! I really don't know why they did it but do you think pop/rap/RnB are better than rock/punk/grunge/metal? Personally I think that pop/rap/RnB ARE rubbish music, it's not worth of listening to them, they aren't even close to rock/punk/grunge/metal!
Why rock/punk/grunge/metal are not preferred by people as much as they were?

its pointless everyone has their own taste and we can't judge on them just because we don't like the same thing.
i personally like metal but i also like electro/dubstep/house music.
btw my favorite bands/DJ'S are:
1. METALLICA.
2. SYSTEM OF A DOWN.
3. SLIPKNOT.
3. BILLY TALENT.
4. MASTODON.
5. ARCTIC MONKEYS.
6. THREE DAYS GRACE.

i agree with you...i don't know why some peoples love rep music??? rock/punk grunge and metal...sure are more awesome!! i love rock, cause when i listen rock...it feels like your free and crazy...!!! i don't know...but ...i have a feeling that in the future...people will like pop/rep/RnB more!! but i hope that ROCK WILL CHANGE THEIR MIND!!

I don't like hardly any of the stuff they play on the radio now. I think it is terrible. The entertainment industry has one goal now, to make money, and they will do that however they can. It isn't like the old days where people went into music to say something, to get their voice heard or just because they love music. Do you think Justin Bieber has anything important he wants to tell the world? Does Kanye West only care about the music, would he ever do something like Woodstock where he would play for almost no money?
Of course not, we have become an economy fueled world, driven by money, encouraged by material items. Those things aren't bad but all things in moderation. Has someone having 3o million dollars made them happier then the person with 20 million? Are they happier than the person with 20 thousand? How about just 20$?
Anyway I just noticed I was about to go off on a huge page long rant, back on thread topic yeah I like rock in all of it's forms better than new pop. I intensely dislike most country music, almost all new pop, and stupid rap. Some rap is good if the artist is real and actually has meaning in their song, but that is getting rarer and rarer.

You are right industry music doesn't care what's good anymore, the only want money, that's why the advertise these type of pop/rap/RnB singer, even though they sing stupid songs they are preferred by a big number of people.
