Did I forget something in manga. Itachi has become a great hero from a villain. I get he was protecting Konoha, or was he??? Why was he a part of the Akatskui? Did he not know of the plan to capture/kill all jinchuriki? Has he not killed himself?
Not sure how this all adds up to him now being a good guy? If he knew Madara was evil and wanted revenge on Konoha why would he be a part of it? He knew Nagato wanted to destroy Konoha. There are many examples of him not being the protector of Konoha.

Show me the way oh wise mangsters. Where does it explain him joining Akatskui? What reason does it give? If you are right, my bad, I just don't remember.

You know that there are like... hm 20 different manga chapter that show Itachis true intentions? ._.

Actually, u are right, i think he wanted to be part of the akutski to keep a eye on the hidden leaf village being a outlaw, but i totally agree, if he knew madara was gonna try and kill them off, why didnt he kill madara, why didnt he try and defeat pain, smh, m,m,m a hero eh? PSHH! he didnt do shish to become a hero to me, actually because of him sauske wants to kill the leaf. :(

Well think about it for a sec... Itachi avoided a Civil war and a world war "using" Madara and with Shisuis help... he left Sasuke alive.. why? cuz he was innocent and his little bro... He joined Akatsuki to get close to Madara... and learn all he could from him. He joined Kisame a tough member of Akatsuki... why? In my opinion... Kisame is known to be the Member who can best capture people alive... that way Itachi wouldnt have to get his hands dirty... (we never saw Itachi actually catching a Jinchuuriki... Kisame caught the 4 tails by himself.... and Itachi asked Kisame to treat him with respect (a noble act there) Itachi never attacked Jiraya not only because J-Man was stronger...but because he knew J-Man was part of Konoha and a good candidate for its safety... Itachi (again in my opinion) went to Konoha to remind Danzo that he was still in the picture... then acted as if he wanted naruto because he knew J-man would stand on their way and stop them... or... he was gonna let Kisame do the dirty work...

Itachi gave Sasuke his Amaterasu to attack the main villain.... he freed Sasuke from Oro... and many other things

I remember the part of madara telling saskue about itachi and the plan to kill the uchiha to protect konoha. Don't remember him telling saskue about itachi joing akats so he could cover. You may be right I just dont remember reading that part.

-Itachi joined Akatsuki to protect Konoha from the inside.
-He kept an eye on Madara and forced him to hold off on his plans.
-He delayed Akatsuki from capturing Naruto for years.
-He didn't do anything explicit to safe Konoha because he wanted to be known as a criminal and let Sasuke kill him
