[Discussion] Itachi‘s failure as a brother and a shinobi

itachi's story was truly miserable. he had to make difficult choices which no one else could have made and he made them in the best possible way.
he tried to be both a great shinobi and a great brother and he did a great job.
he is the greatest shinobi and also the greatest brother .
he is not a failure,but he did not suceed also.

thx, the title was provocative and it attracted all of itachi's loyal subjects but i base my opinion on what kishi tells us




I respect your opinion and although i disagree, you have actually givin it some thought(reps).

i believe itachi could have prevented a war and spared sasuke of a miserable life.




good question kishi might have changed his mind after finding out how popular a character itachi became.




good post, but falling short is another word for failing.Itachi did prevent a war but he also open a door for one in the future or at least an unstable s-class shinibo running around wild and killing everybody.



never indicated that failures don't make you stronger buta failure nonetheless.
Sasuke is big enough to make his own decisions and he will own up for them in the future but it was all started by itachi,and itachi's life goal was to turn sasuke into a positive influence in konoha.

what i meant by falling short is that he honestly did his best and did well up until a certain extent in other words he didnt COMPLETELY fail he just didnt expect sasuke to interpret his story as a motive to kill leaf but to follow his wishes and do as he said which is honestly not his fault

Well this thread is filled with good points and bad.
I dont se Itachi as a failure, just a shinobi who tried to do something he belevied was the right thing (could have all gone as planned and what but i think the manga would be a tad shorter then ) but failed. Like some above me said almost every shinobi makes misstakes..even the great ones, unfortunatly this one has probably produced the single most biggest threat..or part of it anyway.

So yeah Itachi failed with sasuke but he is still a legendary Leaf/uchiha shinobi that just wanted to help his brother and village.

Itachi didn't expect Sasuke to be such a little bitch. This is a world of ninja's that kill in cold blood. Itachi had been murdering people when he was the age of Sasuke.. Also it was common for other uchiha's to kill each other for eyes. This is the world they live in. Nothing like our world. So yea Sasuke is just being a bitch. 2. ur right. i wouldnt. but remember, the anbu were gonna kill them anyways then everybody would hate the government and it would have been a huge mess which would equal world war. either way, the options suck so he had to choose the best for the innocent villagers who have nothing to do with ninjas and that was stop the uchiha from rebelling
even after peace, the senju were suspicious of uchiha and where quick to blame them and that wasn't fair but that wasnt itachi's fault U_U

I think we should talk about your Itachi-hate, because he's the only one you highlighted. Every single shinobi failed so far at least once:

Minato sealed himself forever and failed to stop Tobi for good.
Hiruzen couldn't capture Orochimaru and bring him to justice. Same goes for Jirayia.
Naruto couldn't bring Sasuke back.
Hashirama couldn't kill Madara.
Nagato lead a life of hatred instead of doing what Jirayia raised him to do...he just changed his mind at the end.

Every single one of the failed and those were just a very small number of examples. I could go on, but there's no point to it. Whenever you look at a character, you take into consideration his failures and accomplishments.

Failures

1. couldn't turn his brother to the good side. - that didn't depend on him alone, it was Madara's doing mostly.
2. used his trump card. - again, that was Kabuto. Itachi would have never expected anyone to bring him back, especially since he sealed Oro. Give him props for trying to time the eye perfectly.

Accomplishments

1. Protected Konoha from akatsuki.
2. Forced Sasuke (and Naruto because of it) to become stronger.
3. Sealed Orochimaru for good.
4. Helped delay the capturing of the Kyuubi.
5. Restricted Tobi's plans while he was alive.

This thread is about itachi and his failures not about all the other characters you mention in your post.I do not hate itachi but simply stating facts from the manga which alot of people choose to ignore.Did i say itachi was the only one to fail in the naruto universe? No,so that's on you.Btw harishima defeated madara(whom began hiding) and build the peace between the nations,so i don't see how you see that as a fail.


you should have madara under your failure list,since he failed to kill him,and restricting madara was only a temporarely solution.Sure he got sasuke stronger but he also help sasuke' hate which destroyed him and everyone near him.And i'm pretty sure itachi gave the thumps up to kisame regarding killing jounins from the leaf.

A shinobi isn't perfect. Most of them have failed in some areas, but the accomplishments are what that matter. They've done more than they have failed. However, Itachi was a good brother no matter what. His plan didn't work 100%, but he loved Sasuke no matter what.

The same applies for real life. Nobody's perfect.

Anyways Itachi was a true shinobi, He Gave up his family/friends for the Leaf a total selfless act, He killed his clan to save many more lives, the better of the two evils

And wanted sasuke to kill him so he would be the hero and not hated because of his uchiha name,

He wanted no glory or fame for Saving the leaf, He could of got revenge but he didn't

He is more of a man/shinobi than sasuke will ever be

i agree tht itachi is not a gud brother. in reality he killed his ENTIRE family and plaged sasuke countless times through mental torture.he may be a hero 2 konoha but tht doesnt make wat he did right. he killed his whole damn family 4 gudness sake. he aint give a damn anout FAMILY. In my 3 days in this forums , I want to tell you the something that I noticed is a trend here : Itachi is tiers above Chuck Norris in this forums , He can defeat every shinobi just by looking in his eyes , even Goku runs when he sees him

That's what most of the forum see Itachi as ( Yes , he is very strong , but he has his limits ) , your opinion is good & I see him as a direct reason for Sasuke's miserable life.Itachi was a great shinobi to think and sacrifice himself for the village , but someone who puts his brother through this hell isn't a good brother.(although he wanted to help,the reality is he failed , thanks to Madara & Kabuto)

This is a stupid remark. Of course theres things he could have done better but nobody's perfect. He tried to do the best in both parts he wanted kohana village to live and his little brother with hopes of creating the uchiha clan again. Thats probably another reason he let his brother live.
