Now, to just prove you are wrong that Genjutsu's actually (can) kill the opponents, check this out, Madara actually killed Konan with Genjutsu:

That proves that Genjutsu can kill the opponent, the writer even "Bold" the whole sentence so people would know that Genjutsu's can actually kill lol..

First he used izanagi = illusion mixed with reality.
And then he uses genjutsu to get the hideout of the rinnegan, but not to kill her. He says: when my illusion ends, so will your life.
But this doenst imply that he uses genjutsu to kill, it just says he will kill her after genjutsu

why to ppl think genjutsu can kill you? there is no genjutsu that can kill you! it merely targets you nervous system and one of the 5 senses. it is made to stun/confuse/immobilize/and make you collapse. after the genjutsu or during the genjutsu the user then makes the move for the kill. (visual/sharingan) but against a 2+ man cell fight, genjutsu is irrelevant because the partners would release the spell. against tsukiomi, the parter would protect the collapsed one, and wake them up/snap them out. plus the eft one tsukiomi has on the user is quite high (unless your sasuke with out of no where power ups!)

(sound) is said by shikamaru to be the best out of all the 5 senses genjutsu! the reason is it could target multiple enemies instead of one. and take it from there. these two are the main ones being used in the show so i want bring up the other senses since there is nothing to support them.

overall, even the tsukiomi cant kill some one. but is merely used to help go for the win. some one like killer bee would be protected from any tsukiomi, why? because not only does he have the 8tails to protect from all damage (octo arms and other things) and snap him out (since its 2 minds in one body. bee also has samehada who also has a separate mind that protects from all damage, pump bee with chakra to wake him up, and also heal all damage down to bee.

so please stop saying one tsukiomi wins a fight when it is a fact that it doesn't, it can lead to the victory tho. bee>>itachi any day all day!

I don't know where people are getting those ideas from. Bee was the first known ninja to fully tame and control his Bijuu...and he did it without any external help! He matched the Raikage and the Fourth move for move before. In fact, both of them commented on his unique ninja talents and instincts. I don't think anyone would simply be able to dispatch him easily without making serious sacrifices.

With that being said--I believe that Genjutsu is arguably the most powerful of techniques out of the three main ones(the others being Ninjutsu and Taijutsu). One of the reasons we don't see too many true Genjutsu masters in Naruto, I would imagine, is probably because Genjutsu techniques are so complex and require higher levels of intelligence and finesse.

Think about it, a Genjutsu user has to be able to pull someone into a Genjutsu: 1)without their opponent(s) realizing it and 2)quickly...especially in the middle of a fight. Something like that would take tremendous skill, strategy and intellect to pull of against the more powerful shinobi.

In a shinobi fight, a split second can decide the difference between victory and failure. Even if a shinobi can pull himself out of a Genjutsu, he has to: 1)realize he is in a Genjutsu and 2)dispel it--which takes time. Even a second can be too long. Besides, who's to say that a Genjutsu user can't keep putting their opponent into Genjutsus? A Genjutsu can be used in all kinds of different ways.

It is true that people like Raikage and Naruto and [enter powerful name here] are far less likely to be caught--or caught for a long time--but, that is because we really haven't seen any true Genjutsu users who are at their equivalent level. Itachi is the only one we have seen so far--and we have seen how quick and deadly he can be with it. I have a feeling Madara would be quite powerful with it as well.

I believe if there were ninja who focused solely on Genjutsu--and who had true potential(not just common everyday shinobi)--then some of these arguments might not exist the way they do now.

BTW, I do believe that Genjutsu, if used by a skilled ninja, could be deadly. I'm majoring in Psychology and you would be amazed at the things that could happen to a person's body and/or mind just by affecting the brain.

PLEASE stop comparing Sasuke's Tsukiyomi to Itachi's Tsukiyomi. Sasuke's Tsukiyomi is weaker than Itachi's normal genjutsus. Sasuke couldn't even take a non-Uchiha out with a Tsukiyomi ffs so obviously it won't work on Bee. Itachi has said that HIS Tsukiyomi can only be broken by a Uchiha; this was said during his encounter with Kakashi.

Also did you notice how Bee was stuck in the genjutsu for few seconds before 8-tails helped him out? Itachi's Tsukiyomi alters perception of time. Few seconds in real world are few days in his Tsukiyomi.

We have not seen Itachi cast his "REAL" Tsukiyomi on anyone except Kakashi and he was not aiming to kill. Let's hope Kishi let's us see it in the next chapter.

Forget Genjutsus... Itachi is actually keeping up with Bee and Naruto in combat.

madara's illusion is on another level than tsukoyomi.. its IZANAGI, the illusion that madara is talking about is his IZANAGI. IZANAGI can turn illusion to reality. where as TSUKOYOMI is just an illusion that tricks the mind of the victim.

Itachi is a beast, and I'm pretty sure he will scrape the floor with Bee's face, but he cannot spam 3 Tsukiyomi consecutively without doing damage to himself. Tsukiyoma takes a great toll on him, he gets exhausted from using one. He may be able to take out one, but the other two won't stand there lined up waiting for it.
