Hi everyone,
I'll solve the common mystery of the famous "pointed border" for GIMP users.
I didnt find a GIMP pattern pack for this, so we'll do it by hand.

(I do NOT consider myself as good)

Open a new file with size 4x4 and transparent background (or white if you want it more visible)
and fill the pixels like this:

You can choose any size and amount of black coloured pixels
here are some more examples:

Save the files as .png and move them into a new folder called:
"Custom patterns"
(or anything else, it doesnt matter)

First click "copy"
Now follow this path:
(English version: edit/insert as/new pattern)

i was also thinking of making this tut :T_T:
i guess this is scanline tutorial. i think that 6x6 size is much better:p, and did u mean to save it in .pat format? coz i save new patterns here GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\patterns in .pat format

No, you can save it as whatever u want (.png is best). If you download a new pattern pack it is .pat and needs to be in GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\patterns but not with custom patterns!

CHECK OUT THE TUTORIAL AGAIN
I fixed a part that explains everything now
