Team Jiraiya sets out! The first big mission! Part 2
Masato: Gah, we’ve been wandering in these mountains for hours! When will we find some missing-nin ass to kick?!
Jiraiya sighed. He knew Masato was partly right. They had been searching for hours already, and they still hadn’t found anything. He was about to tell his team that they would head back to an inn, when Kazumi stopped.
Kazumi: Jiraiya-sensei, I sensed something! I’m sure of it! Up ahead to the west!
Jiraiya gasped. If this was the lead they needed to find Yuji and his band of thugs, they would be in for decent fight.
Jiraiya: Alright guys, listen up. If this chakra Kazumi sensed is Yuji’s, we’re going to have to do our best. This will really be a situation of life and death if it comes down to a fight.
All three: Yes sir!
They headed out to where Kazumi had sensed the chakra. After heading up north for about 1km, they came to a crossroad. One path went left and one went right. At this point Jiraiya was afraid they had to split up, but luckily Kazumi had been able to sense which way the chakra was. They took the path left, which led to a small ridge. They were easily able to cross the ridge by putting chakra in their feet and walking over it. After heading forward yet another kilometre, they saw a cave that was illuminated by torches on both sides. They carefully headed inside, looking out for anything suspicious.
Minato: Sensei, shouldn’t there be any traps? I mean, this is supposed to be a renegade hideout!
As Minato said it, a huge net dropped down on them. Minato quickly released his home-made attack, slicing the net in two.
Jiraiya: You were saying, Minato?
Minato: Sorry sensei…
They headed further into the maze, crossing through the corridors as timed flew by. The foursome had encountered several traps as they advanced, crossing spikes in the ground, passing by chakra absorbing seals and fighting off a giant spider (Masato seemed to be afraid of them, considering he cried out like a little girl). They finally arrived into a big chamber that was simply magnificent. It was decorated with many weapons on the wall, beautifully weaved carpets from the Land of Wind but also with fragile vases, and cups made of the purest gold. It was a treat for the eye.
???: So finally, Konoha found it worth sending a squad to try and capture me. Even if it’s a bunch that’s this pathetic.
Jiraiya: Well if it isn’t our little Yuji.
The squad looked to their right to a corridor, and saw Yuji coming in with his 4 minions. He looked so fragile to Minato, his body showing scars where it wasn’t covered in loincloth. His face was distorted, with a large burn wound that ran from his right ear straight to his nose. His minions on the other hand were nothing more than 4 giant being of meat. Nothing more or less.
Yuji: I’ve always hated it when you called me that, Jiraiya-san The Pervert.
Jiraiya: As did I with that nickname.
Yuji: Anyways, what is that you have with you? Does Konoha let their Jounins babysit on missions?
Before Jiraiya could answer, Masato hand swell up to an enormous size, and it stretched out, flying towards Yuji. His attack never reached Yuji though, as a barrier seemed to be formed before Yuji.
Jiraiya: Masato! Restrain yourself!
Masato: I won’t allow him to talk about us or the village like this! I won’t stand for it
Jiraiya: Masato!
Masato knew Jiraiya’s tone was serious. He withdrew from attacking, but stood eager to attack on each moment’s notice.
Yuji: Well well, that’s quite something you did there young man. I even had to use my Sonic Release to fend off your attack. Well played young man.
Minato could feel the momentum of the battle coming closer every second. He stood ready to retaliate if he noticed any movement or offensive force from their opponents.
Yuji: Well then, let’s get at it. How about your three mongrels fight my 4 guards, and we take our chances against one another, Jiraiya?
Jiraiya: Let’s do this then!
In a flash, Jiraiya stood in front of Yuji, sending him flying backwards with a well-placed roundhouse kick. Minato, Kazumi were right behind him and started a hand-to-hand fight with the 4 goons.
They were all busy battling, and as they were busy, the two fights got separated from eachother.
Minato was busy fending off two guards and Kazumi and Masato each one of their own. It was obvious the 3 fights were equally matched. Masato took a quick glance at Kazumi and she nodded. They were obviously up to something. Masato quickly sidestepped to avoid a punch from his opponent and counter-attacked.
Masato: Partial Multi-size Technique! Hiiiiyaaah!
Masato punched his rival, who flew straight into Kazumi’s attacker. Because of the force, they both flew against onto the ground, the first on top of the second. Kazumi threw 2 kunais with exploding tags in the sealing. A small explosion took place, which lead to a part of the ceiling falling on top of the enemy.
Kazumi: We won’t be having any more trouble of those two.
Masato: Kazumi, we need to help Minato!
It seemed that Masato was wrong; Minato didn’t need any help as he was easily overthrowing his two attackers.
Minato: Lightning Release: Lightning rope!
Two tendrils shot fort from his hands, and the wrapped themselves around the slow moving incomers. Minato focused more chakra into the rope, and the two guards fell into the ground, unconscious.
Kazumi: Hmm. Interesting, Minato.
Masato: What did you do?!
Minato grinned. He started to explain Masato what his technique just did.
Minato: I took some time in searching what I could do with Lightning Chakra, and worked on this technique. Basically, I choose how much chakra I put in to it. Too much and I kill my opponent, but a small amount of chakra and I just make them lose consciousness!
Masato: Wow, that’s great… Bu-.
Kazumi: Guys, we need to help Jiraiya-sensei, he’s in trouble!
They looked over and saw their mentor panting. His arm was dripping in blood. He needed their help.
Yuji: Ha, well that wound on your arm will leave a mark but it’s still not enough to make you pay for what you did to my face, you bastard!
Jiraiya: You think this will hold me down? Ha, you know me longer than that Yuji!
Minato didn’t get it. They were talking as if they knew each other for such a long time already. What was the missing link between them that they didn’t know of?
Yuji: Sonic Release: Blast Square.
Kazumi: Jiraiya-sensei, look out! That blast will kill you!
Before the attack could take place the Masato and Minato performed the plan that they had set up beforehand, while their sensei was sleeping. Masato once again made his hand expand. He threw Minato towards Jiraiya. Minato, however, had a chain around his waist that Masato had in his hand. He grabbed Jiraiya by his shoulders and Masato quickly pulled, making Yuji’s attack miss by a split second.
Yuji started to burst out in a hysterical laugh. He really looked as if he was losing it.
Yuji: Hahaha! Now I see why you took these three! A sensor type, one from the Akamichi clan and probably the next generation kid genius! It looks as if I’ve underestimated them! But that will end now!
Minato: We won’t stand for it! You won’t get away with all of this!
Yuji: Ha! Wait until you’ve defend against this!
Yuji started to perform several handseals, and fiercely cried out. Kazumi however sensed everything.
Kazumi: Guys, this is going to be huge! His chakra is going through the roof!
Yuji finished his attack. He slammed his hand into the ground and grinned at Jiraiya.
Yuji: Sonic Release: sonic dome.
Jiraiya: You three, look out!
Jiraiya pushed his team away, obviously in an attempt to protect them from the attack.
Yuji: A valiant attempt Jiraiya, but they are still doomed. You see kids; he’s now inside my barriers made of pressure and sound. He’s constantly being supressed by a variety of lovely sounds that will eventually make him go mad. There’s nothing you can do to save him
Masato: YOU BASTARD, YOU WON’T GET AWAY WITH THIS!
Minato: Masato! We need to stay calm if we are to defeat him! Guys, Formation Alpha!
The three younglings surrounded Yuji in a triangle formation. Minato was standing in front of him; his entire body was covered in an electrical coat. Masato expanded and became twice his normal size he had the chain he used to pull back minato with around his body. His face was covered in rage. Kazumi was standing behind Yuji, shurikens and kunais in her hands.
Masato opened the attack. Performing one of his clan jutsus as Kazumi unleashed a rain of Shurikens and Kunais.
Masato: Spiked Human Bullet tank!
Masato flew towards Yuji, who once again had to put up a barrier to protect him from the Akimichi signature move. This time though, it seemed that his barrier would crack under the pressure. At the same time, Kazumi’s Shuriken and Kunais were flying at his back. Yuji jumped backwards to avoid them aswel.
Minato: Lightning Release: Fingerswords!
Minato knew that Yuji hadn’t anticipated his stealthy attack. He saw it by Yuji’s facial expression. Yuji however was just in time to partially avoid the attack, so it didn’t his chest but left a large open flesh wound in his shoulder. The three of them quickly regrouped and stood a few yards from Yuji again.
Yuji: HAHAHA, AHAHAHAHAHA! FINALLY A TEAM WORTH FIGHTING! FINALLY NINJA’S OF KONOHA WHO WILL HAVE MY VENGEANCE!
Minato: You have no reason to be like this! Konoha never did anything wrong to you!
Yuji: Oh, is that what they teach you? That Konoha is the perfect shepherd and that you civilians are the precious little flock they seek to protect from dismay? THINK AGAIN BOY, IT WAS MY ENTIRE FAMILY WHO WAS KILLED BECAUSE OF KONOHA! BECAUSE THEY HAD TO PROTECT ALL THE OTHERS WHO WERE TOO WEAK TO PROTECT THEMSELVES! THIS ENDS RIGHT NOW!
Minato had never seen anyone with such a crazed look in his eyes. This man had lost everything, and he was only their age when he did so. He didn’t know if he would react any different if he were in Yuji’s shoes. That, however, would not stop them from protecting each other, their sensei or their village. They had to stop this menace once and for all. As Yuji started to attack, Kazumi took it on her to keep Yuji at bay while Minato and Masato prepared their final attack. She was an expert in Taijutsu (for her age) so she should be able to do fend him of for at least a little while.
As Yuji came in, Kazumi quickly crouched balanced on her right leg, thrusting her left leg upward in an attempt to hit his face. Yuji however ducked and swept her right leg of the ground with a low-placed roundhouse kick. While she was struck, Kazumi placed her hands on the ground and pushed herself off to land back on her feet. She then zigzagged towards Yuji, with a kunai in her hand retaliated. She slashed at his arm, but he managed to avoid getting hit by her. He then sidestepped and kicked her in the chest, making her fly into a wall on his left side.
Yuji: That takes care of her, now for you two.
A sudden explosion went of next to Yuji. In his arrogance, he failed to notice that Kazumi left an explosion tag on the ground as he had kicked her into the wall. Minato realised this was the opening they needed; he told Masato that he was ready.
Minato: Masato now, I’ve got enough Chakra stored!
Masato and Minato:Catapult Arm! Lightning Release: Final Light!
Truly, their teamwork was magnificent. As Masato launched his companion with his new, selfmade Akamichi Jutsu, Minato’s body was covered in such a big amount of chakra that he was like a gleaming blue ray of light as he flew into Yuji’s chest. Due to the impact, and Yuji caught off guard, they flew backwards and Yuji was pierced into a wall. Minato didn’t aim for his vital organs, but Yuji was injured to such a degree that he wouldn’t be able to perform any more attacks. Yuji looked at Minato with gleaming eyes, blood dripping from his mouth as he spoke to him.
Yuji: You have done well, Minato… Please finish me off, as I am a disgrace to my clan now…
Minato: You were never a disgrace Yuji; you’ve only lost yourself on the way. Didn’t it ever occur to you that your clan didn’t die out of vain or to protect Konoha. They did it to protect you, the younger generation of the clan. I’m sure you would have done the same. You can’t have anger rule your heart.
Yuji: How can you be so sure of all this… How can you be sure that Konoha didn’t use my clan as a puppet in their warfare!
Minato: Because your clan was a strong and proud clan. You are the living example of this. The future generation will always surpass the previous one. They did it so you could live a life in peace and protect the ones you love when the time would arise.
Yuji’s eyes filled with tears. He had never even considered looking at it this way, so much was his heart consumed with misplaced hatred. He felt ashamed that he didn’t realise what his clan has done to protect him and the other children, and that he neglected their wishes so easily. He looked at Minato and saw himself when he was young.
Yuji: I thank you Minato. Even if it’s too late, you have opened my eyes. There is nothing I can do anymore; my injuries due to your attack are too great for me to recover without any medical help within the hour… The last thing I can do is ensure you a rapid travel to Konoha without any nuisances. I’ll release Jiraiya, he will be able to confirm I am not lying.
As he spoke Jiraiya seemed to come back to his senses, though he looked as if he was in a terrible shape. Kazumi woke up as well at this moment. Masato went to help up Kazumi; he overlooked her with a look that was full of love, telling her he would never let this happen to her again. Minato walked over to Jiraiya and helped him up. The foursome walked towards Yuji, who was sitting, nearly collapsed against the wall.
Yuji: Jiraiya, your kids have really opened up my eyes again… I thank them for giving me this honourable way to depart… Because of this, I’m giving you all a last gift. A swift return home, to where your loving families are. The same thing I will have once my spirit passed on from this world.
Jiraiya: You can’t do this Yuji! We can treat you and take you back to Konoha. I’m sure the Hokage will find something out so you can still live a happy life! This move will take your last chakra, you can’t release the seal!.
Yuji: I must, Jiraiya-san.
Yuji Performed the tiger handseal. A small seal appeared on his chest, that was shaped like a flame. He put his fingers on it, and it started to burn as a real fire. Behind him, a dark void was opening. It became bigger and bigger, aswel as the flame on his seal. Eventually t’s size was so big that Jiraiya could easily pass under it. The Fire Seal had spread all over Yuji’s body.
Yuji: Shout where you want to go before the tunnel, and it will take you there. The resonating effect of your words will be the key and you will travel by the speed of sound, so be sure you pick the right place. Now go inside or my death will be in vain! I bid you farewell Minato, Masato and Kazumi. May I see you again in the next life. And Jiraiya-sama, I’m sorry for everything…
Team Jiraiya was left with tears in their eyes. They stood in front of the portal and shouted as one the place they wished to return home to. As they came home, they told the Hokage of all that happened. He was as astonished as they were when they heard themselves telling the story.
Hiruzen: You did a great choice, guys. I know it mustn’t have been easy Minato, but you did the right thing. The Will of Fire runs through you.
Authors note: A timeskip is in place here, you will find the story now one week after the death of Sonic Yuji.
Minato was walking down the streets. He still felt that Yuji shouldn’t have died, and felt that it was due to him that Yuji had to leave this world. He stood still all of a sudden, making a silent pact with himself that he would never kill anyone, except if they wanted to hurt his loved ones. Then he would crush them with all his might, as Yuji’s elders had did for his generation. He started walking in the village again and saw Jiraiya-sensei entering Ichiraku Ramen. He quickly ran inside to follow his mentor.
Minato: Jiraiya-sensei! I have something I need to talk to you about…
Jiraiya: What is it Minato, shoot.
Minato: How did you know Yuji so well? It seemed as if you knew each other before.
Jiraiya sighed. He should have known that Minato would have noticed the conversation and came up with the conclusion
Jiraiya: Minato… Yuji and I used to be.. Friends. We grew up together and attended school together. Things started going wrong when we 3 were selected to be trained by the Hokage. Of course he wasn’t Hokage yet, but he was still one of the best Jounins in our village. I think Yuji was jealous, though I didn’t see why… I still saw him as a friend until our fight last week. I was the one who tried to stop him from abandoning Konoha, and gave him that scar. In the end, I was too weak to take him back with me, even after defeating him. I couldn’t stand seeing my friend live a life he didn’t want to. That’s probably why I was chosen to do this in the first place. I’m sorry that I put you all under such danger out there. You really are an epic trio to have pulled this off.
Minato: I would have done the same sensei as him sensei… I could feel his rage, almost touch it. I feel so bad for him, and you know that I’ve heard your story. I’m sorry about what I did to your friend sensei!
Minato almost burst out in to cries, the guilt being too much for him to handle. Jiraiya felt so bad telling Minato the story that he had to make it good to him.
Jiraiya: Don’t feel bad Minato! You fulfilled your role as a Konoha Shinobi! We can’t let emotions lead us, that was my mistake in the past, and you didn’t make that mistake. I’ll tell you what, I’ll see if I can talk to the Hokage about using his library, and look up some cool stuff you can learn. How does that sound?
Minato: Awesome Sensei! Let’s go!!!!!!
Minato wiped off his tears and ran outside. Jiraiya laughed out loud. Surely his bunch ascend to a level far beyond anyone the ninja world had ever seen.
I would like to thank everyone who has followed "The Chronicles of Minato, Konoha's Yellow Flash" for their patience. It took me a long while to find the time to write this chapter, and I should actually have been studying for my Dutch exam and making my thesis, but I couldn't bear the feeling anymore that I owed all my readers this. I hope you guys like this chapter. If you do so, feel free to rep or thank me
