if kakashi is good enough to be a general of one of the sqaudrons he is good enough to be hokage.

well if he wasn't kage material then he would not have been on the verge of becoming one before that oooooold hag tsunade woke up from her coma...
He can beat Tsunade and Tsuchikage(coz he is too old..)

to be honest guy's if it was up to tsunade, kakashi would have been kage and other thing this what makes kakashi perfect for the job he's the most feared ninja in the leaf besides the fourth he's trained with the greatest sinobi in the leaf, the fourth. he's been sucessfull as as a teacher and has completed some of thee most dangerous mission then anybody and the other anybody that can put up with naruto mess is already a kage nobody but orochi knows more jutsu than kakashi remember and he was anbu ops top ninja.......

IMO, Kakashi is relatively weak, and is quickly being overshadowed by the younger generations.
To answer the question, he is brilliant enough to be Hokage, but not strong enough.

ok and i believe he is kage material both tsunade and jiraiya thought so he has an analytical mind like shikamaru and hes well known so he will have plenty of pull among the other nations and hes quite powerful

Ok going back to the topic. I personally believe Kakashi is absolutely brilliant in every sense of the word. I mean just look at the guy, he has a sharingan without even being in the respectful clan. He has hundreds of jutsus and a vast experience of battlefield experience.
But I dont see him ever being a Hokage. He *was* going to be Hokage for the simple fact that Konoha was in a emergency situation with Tsunade in coma, the decision of nominating him was rather urgent and not exactly planned through and they did not have alot of options at that time.
Like I said before Kakashi is brilliant in every sense of the word. With Intelligence that matches Shikamaru's but I just dont think he is 'fit' to take on a responsibility of that like a Hokage. ( Of Course is Tsunade is Hokage then probably Kakashi can also be )
And by the way I think everyone that posted about Onoki saying he is crap, you should really be more quiet. I mean we hardly have seen him in battles but at least from what I have seen him do, its awesome to say the least. With the dust jutsus and so on, besides Are you forgetting he is a fking HOKAGE? despite his age, there must be a reason for him to remain in that spot and his back problems is just a way for everyone to laugh and only serves a purpose of laughter but has nothing to do with his condition at all.

Like someone said, Kakashi is smart and wise enough but not strong enough. He is a strong ninja and well known throughout the ninja world, but on terms of being a Kage he just doesn't cut it.
On a side note, anyone who thinks or implies that Onoki can be easily beaten are clearly not thinking straight. He has a Bloodline Expansion. Something that apparently only 2 people in the entire ninja world and history has ever had. I wouldn't criticize the old man without seeing him in a full blown fight

Kakashi is Kage material. Tsunade told Jiraiya (before he left for rain village and ended up dead) that she considered Kakashi for next Hokage position. Didn't shikamaru's dad proposed his name too, in the meeting when tsunade was in coma? I don't remember well though...
my prediction would be that he could beat all the other kages except for oonoki and A. But it might change if his kamui progresses to a new level. Kakashi can't be easily determined in strength because he is still growing stronger. He is way stronger now than he was in the beginning of part 2. So you never know but he is still definately kage material in terms of strength.

He has the strength, but not the mentality. The best candidate fro Hokage after Tsunade is Naruto, with Shikamaru as his right hand man, and Kakashi as the lead ninjutsu teacher. Sakura leading the medical team. That's the best set up for the village to follow.
