Itachi said he gave naruto some of his power, he then said and i roughly quote

"I hope the day you need to use it never comes"

This suggests it is more than a mere weapon or defensive ability, as the way itachi is putting it, it will cause some form of possible or definite catastrophe.

So far there are 3 main theories

1.Its a defense against genjutsu
2.Its the sharingan
3.Its to control the kyubii

I dont see how either of these 3 are worthy of itachi saying he hopes he doesnt have to use it against sasuke...as none of them yield any problems to warrant itachis response like that

So...I reckon all of us are wrong so far...

Regarding 1.
It may be a defense against the Sharingan that causes harm to the user, thus harming Sasuke. Maybe it blinds them as an example.

Global:
The one possibility that answers the statement in general is that Itachi hopes that Naruto never fights Sasuke in order to defend Konoha. This could be better worded, and apply to any power given to him. The two are not mutually exclusive of course.

i think its the power to overcum genjutsu or we know that uchiha can control bijju so itachi might have given that power to him

the subject is similar but as a previous member stated, i have found a piece of manga which is a piece no one has used before, therefore making light on a possible different outcome of what itachi gave naruto.

Its obviously a devastating power if he hopes the day never comes where naruto has to use it.
