I'm looking at LCD monitors for my new workstation, and I was wondering if anyone had any good/bad reviews. I'm looking in the 27" - 30" range. The video card is DVI. The workstation is only used for 3D graphics, so it doesn't need to be a gaming monitor or a monitor for watching movies. I'm mainly concerned with color and brightness.
Thanks.

Well a brand I would recommend would be Acer or Viewsonic. Both have great colors and are fairly cheap (120-180$)

They are very good gaming monitors, have a very good response time and have slow input lag.

Do you need the 27inches? I mean would it make that much of a difference?

Yes, it needs to be at least 27". I won't be playing games on it.

Well you don't have to use it for gaming, I just figured if you're using them for 3d design you'd want good colors/great response time/no input lag.

You can still look up those brands. A good site for techy stuff is newegg.com

Not sure if you know about it.

I was looking on new egg:

Viewsonic, fair price, 27 inches and has both HDMI and DVI inputs. Great colors/contrast ratio. Also has VGA and USB. Great response time

Samsung, pretty much the same

Samsung HDMI is what i use, solid picture quality/resolution, reasonable price. I found this on the 27" one:

Acer is a pretty good brand to use, same with HP

Though you could also get a LCD tv since they should be about the same price and most modern LCD tvs have some sort of PC input port. I have my tower hooked up to on of my HDMI ports on my 40 inch tv :p

a quick search of Newegg, i found a ASUS 27" monitor for 350 and you can get a 32" 720p Vizio for about 400 so you do have options there

Samsung's 27" is just 289.99 $, that's quite a significant saving,no? Although it does'nt have the 3 year warranty Asus does, but in my experience it does'nt have durability issues. Don't know anything about vizio, but it looks pretty good! I'd say if you want affordability plus reasonable quality and reliability go for samsung.

Do not buy a Vizio. I bought a Vizio. 2 weeks after the warranty expired, it broke. It would have cost what I paid for it to fix. After looking around online I noticed this was not uncommon. A lot of people had the same problem.
