Good. ^_^ Now, you won't really have to move away from it. The whole point of focusing your chakra into is so that you can spit it a good distance.
Good. ^_^ Now, you need to focus your chakra into the water and lift up a mass of water. Also, give it a humanoid shape. We'll go from there once you get the base down.
Alright. Good. Now, like the basis of the basic Bunshin jutsu, simply use your chakra to overlay your physical feature (hair color, eye color, etc), to make the clone look more like you, instead of just your body type.

Actually, that was very good. Something people fail to remember when first attempting the jutsu for the first time is that water is a liquid, and therefore it's their chakra that they need to use to create a stable base.My unstable water clone dissapear after you hits it so i start from the beginning but w/ this teaching method make me understand the key point on every jutsu you've taught.. but it's gonna take a long time to finished this Suiton Jutsu right sempai..?

*first... i sculp (according to my Avatar) the hair shaped like my hair kind a crumble with yellow color...then sculp the eye.. blue color eyes.. the nose, the lips,... then the full face with kind a dark skin... i sculp again using my chakra designing the cloth and a skirt hanging to ankle and final touch... i bring out the head band.. Konoha head band.. and to make it stable... i channel my suiton chakra into m clone and generate it so the clone can be stable* *hmmmm... i think it's stronger now senpai...*
You don't actually have to move your body to the water. You can project your chakra through the air towards the water, and form the vortex.
