OMG! you just blew my mind! it may have been the 4th in the casket, but maybe not with the 4ths personality. Maybe the dead demon seal only seals away the part of a person with conscious thought. So he may have attempted to bring back the 4th that had no emotion or thinking.

Firstly the anime and manga are different in many ways.
If your so sure provide the manga slides that support your claim!
Edo tensei has not been openly explained enough to know it's limits. If you can't understand that then I can not explain it any easier.

First you steal my avatar...how lame... Next you don't understand! Edo tensei takes your SOUL AND uses the body that was sacrificed to bring them back to life. Think logical how can a soul who has been sealed away forever come back with Edo tensei?

). The 3rd exclaims that the 3rd box didn't work it seems. So he may have been attempting to summon the 4th, but was unable or the 3rd stopped him.

I will have to go with have to say the DRS hasn't been fully explained. I Edo Tensei is bringing people back from the dead. I mean that is a complex jutsu also.
If the 3rd casket had the 4th in it then we would all know if you can bring back a Soul sealed with the DRS. But it hasn't been shown in the to be true or false.
But everything points towards it being not possible because the souls are sealed in some Death God's stomach. But what I think it comes down to is what the f is a Death God and can you pull a soul from its stomach with Edo Tensei. I am not ready to guess. I want to see Kabuto do it first. and when he pulls someone that is sealed with the DRS then it will be a simple yes or no...
There is almost no point to beat the topic to death without all the information. We have a lot of information but not all of it. Specifically when Kabuto states he improved it. I gotta see it to believe it or see Kabuto fail when he tries to do it.

Show us all where it says that Edo tensei cannot retrieve a soul from the DRS, you can't can you. Not enough information has been provided so anything is possible.

The bottomline as mentioned is there isn't enough info on the Reaper Death Seal to say for sure if someone can be pulled from the death god's stomach. Depending on how bad it is there, that might be a much better option to be resurrected than fighting your foe for all eternity.

It's not even that People just need to think logical until proven otherwise. The four sealed Hokages could take out the Allied shinobi by themselves with no problem. Kabuto would have resurrected them if he could have. Hiruzen stated himself that your soul is sealed away for eternity, until Kishi states other wise they cant be resurrected point blank...
