Anyway, out of curiosity how would a chuni exam in the nw pan out?

Create a narrative, announce the event about attracting the stronger fighters from around the world. Say its posted on flyers everywhere or something. Have people arrive at the landmark. Proceed with the tournament and people can interact and witness other people's abilities as they watch the fights.

Idk what that narrative would be though. Especially since ranks dont really exist in the warring states period. Those are a creation of villages.

I forgot the landmark, but one of them has an abandoned arena. It could be done similarly to the Dark Tournament in Yu Yu Hakusho. And since it is in the NW, it could be done gauntlet style. Cooldowns would be in effect and chakra/health carry over so people would have to play somewhat more conservatively. Maybe have a medical tent for very limited healing. Like 25% of damage/chakra used being restored.

That's for people to discuss. For all the complaints that were going on when I was afk, when I ask people for feedback, now everyone just views the thread and doesnt have anything to say. I'm confused, did you guys want change/updates or did you want to complain?

You could just Solo Leveling the NW. Spam gates at random locations around the map and let players tackle what's inside. Put some mobs which can be written as a mission and have someone be the final boss at the end. You can have gates for more people or for solo. With each gate closed, one would get information about why this is happenning in the NW. Players will need to work together with the knowldedge they have gathered to learn the mystery of the gates. Unattended gates in time, release the creatures inside into the continent, affecting the NW and people would need to gather to clear the mess. etc.

I don't think you need a complete revamp, you just need to make something of appropriate scale that's fun and unique. I was really looking forward to Zaph's arch, but got really busy irl and couldn't interact. The thing I didn't like as a newcomer, was having to read through so much stuff to learn what had been happening in the NW.

A sandbox-like to the NW and its events is 100% something I'd lose sleep to make work. A world that rewards exploration and taking chances just because... That's the hallmark of every RPG great, with Elden Ring being the most recent ascendant with an honestly exhausting map full of threats, mysteries, and independent storylines. Something like that could work here on NB, and I'm curious to know what ya'll think about such an approach to the (new) NW.
