Max is 5 indeed. This is also to prevent spamming large amounts of members.

So I got the issue again when someone quoted me and I got an alert. So I had to mark read all my alerts again.

I found the issue. The kumi system is buggy and prevents notification syncing. Testing fixes on our development environments.
