"Hmm well, that was quite morbid." Lena looks at the Wooden dummies then back to Chise, "You could've saved one."

She begins to take a few steps back, counting the paces in her head until she reaches about ten meters away from her student she stops completely in her track. Speaking as she moved backwards;

"Very good, you can attack with wood - now perform the Bird → Hare → Serpent hand seals and DEFEND YOURSELF!" Lena's hand sprawls out and she releases a blue fireball in Chise's direction. It was different than normal fire and seemed hotter, it also seemed hungry.

Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A

Chise listened to the initial comments of her mentor, eyeing the scene she had produced using the technique that Lena had just taught her. She hadn't even really given it a lot of thought, or particular effort to create it in such a morbid fashion, yet that seemed all too accurate to how she had executed it, consciously or otherwise. Afterward, she blinked away the slight disconcerting sensation of the image left behind from the last technique as she carefully listened to the instruction being given to her next. She ran the repetition of the three seals she had been told to perform once, then a second time through her mind as if in an attempt to make it stick. That was, up until she heard the sudden shift in tone from Lena before abruptly hurling a sapphire inferno toward her. Chise let out a surprised yelp as she rapidly performed the handseals she had been instructed to before quickly dropping to a crouched position in something of a natural reflex, resulting in a sudden eruption of roots and wood to form directly in front of her in an immense wall-like structure. In the same moment following, the water surrounding the wall and Chise herself had lifted itself up, almost as if by the sheer will of her own as it was manipulated by the free-flowing nature of her elemental affinity, the water rushing to her defense and that of the wall in kind to ensure the defense would hold against the flame cast against her. Peeking her gaze out from behind the wall toward that of Lena, Chise had something of a bemused expression as she let out a faint sigh of relief. "You're really set on this whole "trial by fire" mentality, aren't you..?"

Type: Defensive
Rank: B

"Oh for sure... good job." Lena grinned, "Well you managed attack and defence, how about simple entity creation. Create me a Large willow tree and manipulate it's very branches to your will. Pretty simple. Then I need you to create a bunch of Mokujins for me."

"Oh for sure... good job." Lena grinned, "Well you managed attack and defence, how about simple entity creation. Create me a Large willow tree and manipulate it's very branches to your will. Pretty simple. Then I need you to create a bunch of Mokujins for me."
Chise offered a faint sigh as she casually stood up from her once crouched position, hidden behind the wall of wood she had manifested, almost as if by pure instinct. She hadn't realized she was even capable of such a technique. It was as though her will to protect herself -to prevent harm from reaching her- had poured through the chakra she had practically spilled into the soil around her and took shape without hesitation. She passed a delicate touch across the surface for only a moment of the wooden wall, as though in something of a thoughtfulness before she inevitably directed her attention back toward Lena, listening carefully to the next set of instruction being given.

With a soft nod, Chise focused inwardly for a moment. She took her time to recall the appearance and substance of a willow tree. The smell their vine-like leaves and branches gave off; the fluttering of light's rays passing through the waterfalls of green that. She had slept beneath such a tree more than once in her travels. It often served as the only semblance of peace and disconnection to an otherwise exhausted trek that she couldn't quite justify at the time; leaving seeds of doubt to spread like a plague through her thoughts, yet the willow was also so calming in it's presence, as if always reaching out to embrace any who shelter by it. With a soft inhale that held for only a moment before being released in a faint sigh of calming relief, Chise hadn't quite noticed the free-flowing chakra that she had been exuding out around her. She only held her hands in front of her, brushing the pads of her thumbs along the insides of her palms as if in something of a faint reminder of her presence elsewhere other than in her own thoughts. Gradually she began to open her emerald eyes; a flare of light crossing them in a flicker like a dance of embers. For a moment,

nothing seemed to have changed, leaving her to wonder if she had been successful in the technique at all. Thought there was a curious coolness to where she stood now, along with a shadow that had been cast over her surroundings. With a curious blink, Chise tilted her head backward to eye just above herself, only to see the very same flowing lush leaves alternating and spiraling in their arrangement; narrow, light green with a faint opacity against the beating light that crept insistently through the bleak clouds that hung over top the swamp that they stood in. She.. had grown this tree, without so much as knowing exactly how she did it. It required no hand seals, no special meditation.. at least not that she had been aware of doing herself, intentionally or otherwise. It was just there, as if plucked straight from the memories she pulled to the forefront of her mind the moment she had been told to make one..

".. Ah.. Oh. The other thing.. right. Please excuse me." As if a means to snap herself out of the fixated state she had felt herself slipping into by dwelling on the spontaneous birth of life as if by a mere whim, Chise turned herself forwardly toward the tree, walking up to it as she moved to pass a hand over it's trunk. She closed her eyes and lowered her head in a slight decline, as if she were paying a respect owed to something. Moments later, after pouring some dedicated chakra through the tree, several Mokujin had begun to spawn from the base of the tree itself; breaking away from their roots after sprouting and shuffling into something of a makeshift lineup to the side, awaiting for the next phase of the training. "Will this be enough?"

Lena watched as Chise managed to have a Willow Tree sprout out from the ground. She was impressed, it was very good, very natural and pretty. Lena smiled and turned her attention back to her student as the branches shook. Then gracefully from the roots Mokujins Lined up in formation ready for whatever.

"Yes that's perfect."

Lena walks up to each of them, taking out three rolls of parchment with a band through the middle of each of them. She unravels each one and places them against each Mokujin's head driving a kunai into the parchment so it remains pinned. She then moves away and places her hands on her hips.

"Alright you may need to split the Mokujins up a little bit, give them some distance from each other. I want you to reach the Techniques on the parchment and perform them on each assigned Mokujin. If you have any questions about the techniques first, please ask."

Chise watched as Lena plants the pieces of paper onto each of the Mokujins as if they were simple billboards to be tacked onto. She observes the contents of each paper, lifting an eyebrow in something of an uncertain curiosity before realizing through the further explanation of what was expected of her. She was meant to interpret each technique which was respectively listed on each piece of paper to each Mokujin, then perform them accordingly. As she was suggested to do so, Chise directed the dummies to spread apart: One separating further off to the left, the other off to the right, and the last down center of the ring to the furthest point. Once arranged, she first looked toward the right-most one, remembering that it was pinned with a technique that required hand seals: Something that wasn't generally necessarily in the use of wood release, which seemed like a unique feature of the element, so surely when it did require such it was only for those that were far more intense than the others in nature. She took a moment to attempt to recall what the specific hand seals were as she began to perform them accordingly; snake, rat, dragon, dog, then tiger.. Holding the final seal, Chise began to focus her chakra into the ground beneath her feet, feeling it flow and concentrate toward the point central beneath the rightmost Mokujin before an abrupt spiral of branches, vines and roots seemed to break away from the earth itself and coil aggressively around the wooden humanoid, interlacing in a mayhem of layers that eventually carried the Mokujin skyward, forming an immense tree-like shape from the various appendages that had sprouted forth as a result of the technique used.

Immediately following, Chise had separated her hands from one another before pointing her left hand, palm out toward the leftmost Mokujin, of which immediately resulted in an abrupt and sudden eruption of wooden tendrils that skewered forward in a rapid growth from her arm, as if having been flowing through her veins the entire time. The outstretching growth hurled forward before aggressively coiling around the arms, legs and then finally the entirety of the Mokujin's form before rooting into the ground around it, serving as a form of restraints that seemed to lock into the earth itself, preventing it from moving afterward.

After severing the wood that had grown from her arm and waited a moment for the natural shape of her arm to return, Chise stared toward center now, eyeing the final Mokujin that stood idly waiting for her to finish the list of techniques she had been assigned. Kicking off from the ground, she lunged toward the wooden silhouette at the same time that the ground directly behind the Mokujin had given way to the formation of several large wooden roots to spiral out from the earth and form something of a wall, only in time for Chise to place herself directly in front of the Mokujin to plant her feet into the soil in front of it, propping her balance in order to carry the moment in a firm right fist against it's center of mass, causing it to begin to rupture into splinters from the force before hurling backwards into the wooden wall, looking as though she had just thrown wood chips against it. Chise lifted a hand, slowly scratching along the side of her head before turning her attention toward Lena once more. "Uhm.. was that.. good enough?"

[Post for when you get back]

Lena claps her hands, "Perfect, Chise. You've really progress today. The next two techniques are focused at short range, good quick defences versus Taijutsu. Though you may need a break, you've used quite a bit of Chakra. If you need to sit down we can go back inside or chill out here for a bit. I can get you some food if you'd like or a drink? Also if there are any questions regarding techniques you've learned or Mokuton in general; the time to ask is now."

Thank you for your patience. I really appreciate it, as well everything else you've helped me with so far. 🙏

Chise let out a faint sigh of relief after she had finished executing the previous techniques expected of her. She slowly looked on toward Lena, heavy bags having formed beneath her glittering emerald eyes. The exhaustion was more than apparent, especially given the fragile constitution she was known to have since childhood. Yet somehow she always managed to find a way to convince herself to persevere, despite her body's insistence to try and stop her every few steps forward.. A faint, weak smile played along her lips, one that seemed intended for reassurance, yet even she wouldn't likely buy into it if she were to see a mirror. "Ah.. I think I'm alright. I've always really enjoyed nature and the outdoors, though I never really went out very much as a kid for-- .. I had a weird childhood, I guess.. haha.." She mused in something of a gravelly tone, suggesting her throat was well and dried despite her efforts to swallow every so often to try and rectify this fact.

Her ears perked up at the suggestion of questions, of which caused her to lift a hand to pinch lightly at her chin in a pensive manner, considering everything she had learned thus far and trying to piece together what questions she could, or should have. "Well, I do have one question.. it concerns the Mokuton: Moku Hinoki technique. I've struggled to really get the timing on this particular technique down, even though it's a bit simpler technique. It's possible that I'm not doing it right at all.. Could you possibly give me some pointers on this..?"

Basically, just wondering if there's a particular reason why it doesn't have a damage value or if that was an oversight/typo? It seems like a technique that should do damage, and it's classified as an offensive technique, so I'm not entirely sure why it's listed as no damage.

I originally learned this with Shady and he wasn't sure why it was this way either, but since it has no damage value listed "officially," then it's effectively a pointless technique, no?

It's no problem, welcome back :D

"Well even though it has a decent range, I'd stick to using it in close quarters - it's more effective in such limited usage. Though to each their own, just make sure you leave the ground after you surge your mokuton chakra through it to meet your opponent in the air."

Lena crossed her arms and offered Chise a seat on the deck of the Swamp House they were training at. Though Lena didn't join her and returned to the training field alone, she spoke with a slightly raised voice so her student could here.

"The rest of these low rank techniques I shall show you - so take notes. They're pretty basic so I believe you will be capable of replicating what I perform. Also allows you to take a breather."

Lena releases a clone out of Dark Threads from her body. It takes a few steps away from her before attacking with a high lateral kick. Lena crouches to the floor and slams her hands on the ground, multiple wooden tendrils erupt from the ground and clash together above Lena's head intercepting the kick and pushing the threaded clone back away.

"Mokuton: Kongō Shōboku"

Type: Offensive/Defensive
Rank: B
Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user manipulating their chakra will then place their hand on the ground and cause multiple tendrils to errupt from the ground around the user and then joining together above their head. This technique strikes any close range targets as it fully forms or can be used as a defence against some incoming attacks

The Threaded clone doesn't stop, moving towards Lena it tries to punch her this time but she manipulates the ground to have pillars rise up around her. One in particular hits the threaded clone's fist from underneath and pushes it's arm up but continues to rise with others lifting the clone up into the air.

"Mokuton: Noboru Hashira no Jutsu!!"

Type: Supplementary/Defensive
Rank: B
Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description: The user will create multiple pillars of wood to rise up around them in a circle that can defend against incoming attacks or lift the opponent/s into the air.

Then flat planks of wood shoot out of the ground from around her up at the Thread clone, hitting it in the torso from two sides on opposite sides of the initial pillars - sending it flying a few meters back.

"Mokuton: Mokusei Hanmā no Jutsu!!"

Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user will create multiple planks of wood that shoot up from the ground launching them at the target sending them flying.

As the threaded clone lands on the floor Lena's fingers tighten into claws and she creates a dome around the threaded opponent, completely trapping them within it.

"Mokuton: Sōhokaku no Jutsu"

Type: Supplementary
Rank: B
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description: The user will erect a wooden dome around the target trapping them. However whiles this jutsu is in effect the user nor the target can see each other making each other oblivious to one another's actions unless via some form of sensory technique.

The threaded clone breaks out of the dome with it's tendrils and proceed forward. Lena intercepts it as it attempts to leave and creates a barrage of wooden pillars that rise up in a circular formation - close to the clone and ever moving, completely binding and crushing it.

"And finally, Mokuton: Enkei Shūchūrō no Jutsu. Any questions?"

Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user creates a stronger and more offensive version of Wood Release: Four Pillar Prison Technique where they create wooden pillars in a circular formation to trap and crush the opponent.

OOC: Wood Release thread hasn't been looked at in a long while, it needs revamp - it should have a damage value imo.

Chise let out a subtle sigh of defeat as she had been directed to sit and watch from a distance. She had the intent to protest at first, yet the energy having drained from her body the moment she had sat down left her in a position without much room to negotiate on the subject. She slowly leaned against the surface of the table, her elbows propped against it as she let her head hang loosely against her shoulders, feeling the slight restfulness of the position was enough for a considerable amount of tension to alleviate from her joints. She slowly shifted the softness of her emerald gaze toward the field where Lena remained. With a faint nod, Chise grabbed hold of her loose coat that she had carried back over with her,

rummaging through it until she had found the pen and journal she had used from before, during their medical lessons. She arranged it in front of herself, flipping to the nearest blank page before she began to scribble out notes; writing down the name of each technique used, even taking the time to sketch out simplistic drawings of what each technique did, "roughly."

Eventually she had settled comfortably into her seat, tucking her legs up with her knees near her chest and the heels of her feet against the edge of the chair, holding her legs up. Her journal was now arranged against her legs, one hand tucked around behind it, holding it from the top edge at it's spine as she continued to scribble along the inside of it's pages, constantly guiding her gaze back and forth between what Lena was doing and what she was putting in her book. Once she had seen the conclusion of the final technique, she simply continued to sketch out whatever she had started to previously; filling in minor details here or there to help clarify what each drawing was meant to show or represent. "I have a question regarding Kongō Shōboku: Is it possible to manipulate the tendrils upon creation, or are they fixed to their designated path once created? Oh, and Mokuton: Sōhokaku no Jutsu: Does the dome cover only topical area or does it also cover beneath the ground, forming more of a sphere? If not, then is it possible for the user to use followup techniques intended for the inside of the dome, even if they are not inside themselves? So, for example, if you were to use Mokuton: Sōhokaku no Jutsu, then immediately use Mokuton: Ketatamashii Rūtsu, would those roots from the followup technique be capable of forming on the inside of the dome created by the first technique, regardless of line of sight?" After the winded questions she threw out from the top of her head, she simply settled for idly tapping the butt of her pen against the paper in front of her, all while looking up toward the clouds as she considered a few other possibilities for what she had just been shown.

Lena made her way back over to Chise, listening as she asked her questions about the Jutsu she had just shown her. It was nice to have someone so eager to ask questions about the limits of these techniques - it was also smart, and a good way to gauge their own abilities and to fill any gaps these techniques did not cover.

"The first is a one and done, once it's intercepted the intended target it's over, you cannot further manipulate them - it's like an aesthetically pleasing wooden punch. The Dome is exactly that, a Dome, not a partially obscured sphere - you would be able to escape from it underground and yes you can, though it would be a struggle to pinpoint targets so make sure it covers a wide area or else your technique is subject to evasion... Anyway, well done Chise."

Lena made her way back over to Chise, listening as she asked her questions about the Jutsu she had just shown her. It was nice to have someone so eager to ask questions about the limits of these techniques - it was also smart, and a good way to gauge their own abilities and to fill any gaps these techniques did not cover.

Chise listened intently to the answers she was given to each of her questions, taking the time to pen down what she could in quick notes; some parts being scribbled out, as though crossing out previous ideas and replacing them with renewed ones after having received the confirmations to her uncertainties. She couldn't help but feel bashful from the modest praise she had been given, yet something so simple was more than what she was used to. She slowly let her feet slip down from the chair, her book resting flat across her lap now as she turned her attention in the same direction as Lena for a time. She didn't seem intent on finding anything that her mentor might have been looking at specifically, but was entirely content to simply idle for a moment, enjoying the scenery. Inevitably Chise returned her focus toward Lena as she was introduced to the next technique, of which brought a curious brow up across her visage, her head tilting sideward. "I see. It seems odd that such a technique would exist, practically nullifying the need for any others that are beneath it. I suppose it's a good thing, since it is a stronger, more concentrated and versatile technique, but still.."

"Yeah well, the stronger technique will help you more."

Lena stretched her arms and yawned, walking towards the door of the house. She places her hand on the doorknob, looking at her student before entering.

"You can sleep in here for tonight, for the morning I want you to create me some Seeds, they have to be able to react to chakra and movement."

She enters and goes straight to her room with no real explanation. For the day to pass and the morning to come, looking forward to whatever her student may present to her in the morning.

Chise offered a nod of acknowledgement. She still seemed to find it somewhat odd.. To have techniques for very specific, defining purposes, all to lead up to a single technique that was capable of what each of the other's were in one? It seemed.. redundant. Inevitably she found it unnecessary to push the issue. After all, it was extremely beneficial and she had no reason to "complain," it was only an odd curiosity anyway.

Slowly Chise shifted her focus away from her outward gaze upon the damp wooded terrain in front of them, resting upon Lena as she began to move toward the entrance of the hut once again. Chise stood to her feet casually, lightly patting at her skirt before pausing. She was to.. sleep here? She hadn't quite considered that possibility when she had traveled all this way. "a-Ah! I greatly appreciate that.. thank you, Sensei. Have a good night, and thank you for the lessons today." In an effort not to seem rude, she simply committed to the subject and offered a generous bow toward Lena appreciatively. She waited for her mentor to enter the hut before standing straight and cast her attention toward the clothes she wore.. ".. Too bad I didn't pack a change of clothes.." She let out a faint, defeated sigh before simply accepting the fact that she'd have to sleep in the clothes she had. Perhaps tomorrow she'd make a trip back to the village, even if for only a short time, or perhaps find a way to clean her clothes here. It was a problem for later, regardless.

After a short while since the evening set into it's heavy darkness, Chise opted to idle outside awhile longer. She wasn't lying when she had previously mentioned she enjoyed nature. There was always something so soothing about it. The familiarity of the essence of a flower, strong and beautiful one day, only to wither and fall apart the next. Yet it would not simply die, only regrow, having cast it's seeds to the wind to spread it's beauty to fields beyond the hills. There was such magic in the simplest of things, and it never failed to draw her in. Perhaps that was part of the reason why she pursued the study of Mokuton: An effort to grow closer to nature in some way. It was likely much simpler than that, though. More

like she simply loved the feeling of creation it sparked in her with every root and twig born from her intentions. It was like she were now the flower, waiting for her seeds to land somewhere soon..

Chise had settled onto the edge of the porch, her feet dangling off the edge, kicking lightly back and forth as she peered out across the swamp, contemplating the next technique that Lena had hinted to her. She was to create seeds, that were somehow meant to specifically react to not just chakra, but movement as well, as if some sort of sensory device. She seemed to dwell on it for a good while, wondering just how exactly such a thing was made and how she was meant to specifically create something with such effects. Turning her attention toward the front door of the hut, she considered going in, yet.. now she was too invested in her thoughts on this new technique. Pushing herself off of the edge of the wood decking, she planted her feet onto the swampy floor, careful to lower herself as steadily as possible to avoid making too much noise upon landing. Once on the ground, she made her way toward the ring that had been created by her mentor earlier in the day, where much of their previous training had taken place. It seemed appropriate, if she were to continue training on her own, to do it in the place that had been created for the exact purpose of her training; albeit unsupervised this time..

Taking her place in the center of the makeshift arena of vines and roots, Chise stood in silence as she began to mull over what it was she needed to do, or where to even begin in her effort to try and practice this new technique. She hadn't ever really considered wood release being used to create what is commonly seen as the starting point for most growing things in nature. With a faint hum under her breath, she tried to recollect some memories she might have from previous studies, readings or even passing discussions that may help her find a starting point. When she'd finally realize nothing was going to pop out of nothing, she opted to take it from the very bottom: What was it she needed to do? "..I want you to create me some Seeds.." She needed to not just find some seeds and make them into her own, she needed to "create" seeds from seemingly nothingness to start. With that, the next question was simple: What does one normally have seeds for? In most instances, they are planted, generally in the soil, in order to sprout and grow new life through a careful, steady nurturing environment. Turning her gaze down toward her feet, she eyed the runny, muddy soil she stood upon. Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a simple glass jar that she utilized to scoop some of the soil into after crouching down carefully to do so.

With the soil in hand, Chise remained crouched for a time, her eyes peering into the glass from the outside, staring at the soil, almost as if expecting "something" to happen on a whim. She knew it wouldn't work that way, yet for some reason she had a buried ounce of hope something would spontaneously sprout from the soil. Of course, there were some missing steps she had to consider. In the world she lived in, chakra was the foundation for most, if not all life and creation. Perhaps it was much like the standard creative technique, where she simply had the need to focus her chakra and apply it with a specific intent and image in mind. Gradually she began to throw her mokuton chakra through her hands, pouring it into the jar she held through the contact of her fingers and palms. She imagined seeds, yet the thought would immediately detract into an image of something sprouting instead, which would simply cause an abrupt growth to form from the soil in the jar, spawning a small, infant tree, as if having been planted in the jar naturally.

Chise let out a weighted sigh. She knew the error the moment that it happened, but she wasn't entirely sure how to fix it.. It was natural to think of "growth" when imagining a seed for her, which would likely only ever result in the use of the simplest of wood techniques to create something so minor as a result. She needed something else to focus on in order to move past this obstacle. She lightly pulled the tree from the jar, moving to replant it somewhere off to the side, ensuring it had plenty of water and soil to support it's new life among nature; all the while rethinking all the details she had gone over before reaching this point. What else was there to this technique she needed to consider..? "..they have to be able to react to chakra and movement." Something as simple as seeds would, idealistically, be a great asset for the use in tracking and sensory use while simultaneously avoiding obvious detection, given the simplicity and how small they were. Yet how could she make something capable of doing that, let alone making the seeds at all..?

Chise hovered on the thought for several minutes, standing idly at the center of the ring with her jar and soil in hand. She knew the jar was likely not necessary to perform this technique normally, but in this instance, it gave her something to focus on, which for now helped her work through solving the problems she faced. If the creation of the seed was somehow supposed to have accompany it the basic principles of movement and chakra sensory, then it would have to have some form of tether or connection to the user in order to relay the information. Something that could possibly be considered an extension of the user themselves.. Then, like a light bulb sparking to light above her head, Chise's eyes perked up as an idea dawned on her. Returning her focus toward the soil, Chise slowly closed her eyes and began to concentrate her chakra as she had done before. This time, however, rather than focusing primarily on the simple idea of creating seeds, she instead focused toward the creation of something that would function as an extension of herself.. She imagined utilizing the wood chakra that began to swell within her, manipulating it carefully to spin like threads through her body in an effort to tailor to life a creation that would be put forward as parts of herself, using her own being as the materials needed to create it. Once she felt her chakra had adequately molded the image in her mind, come the final moments, she tightened it all together into a sudden reflection of seeds, as though revealing the final product even to herself in the last moment before pushing her chakra forward to manifest the creation where she willed it to, hopeful not to give herself time to create yet another small tree instead, again. Slowly opening her eyes, Chise peeked into the glass jar. There, her emerald eyes widened ever so slightly as she spotted a pair of small seeds, of which seemed to translate the touch of the soil to her fingertips in a strange but oddly satisfying transfer of information.. She had poured her chakra into the soil from the previous attempt, so now, through the seeds, she felt that very chakra with ease. Given that it was her chakra and the first time sensing it from an outward perspective this way, it was a bit strange. Somewhat like looking into a mirror that didn't reflect "perfectly" what she thought she looked like, but familiar enough to recognize herself..

Chise left the seeds in the jar as she remained standing in the ring, staring at them for several long moments in a sort of amazement that she had managed to pull it off. Her emerald gaze slowly shifted to rest on the hut in the distance as a thought suddenly struck her like a cord, causing an awkward smile to tease along her lips, almost like a nervous twitch. ".. i-I forgot.. to get some sleep. I hope Lena-Sensei won't be too upset.."

Lena takes a few moments to get herself ready for a new day, she had really hoped that Chise had gotten some rest - not wanting to kill her student. She left her room and the Cottage, meeting her students' gaze and the jar of homework she had been set. Lena took a few moments.

"Go to bed."

She walked over and ignored her student, looking at the Jar - taking it into her hands and shaking it for a moment, watching for Chise's reaction in her peripheral vision to the multiple seeds all reacting and clashing against the inside of the jar at once. Though still blanked her for the most part, it looked like she had done a good job.

A pit sunk abruptly within Chise's chest as she saw Lena step onto the front deck of the cottage in the same moment that she had turned her focus toward the building. The thought had crossed her mind on the possibility that she might be able to slip inside before Lena would have woken up and at least gave the impression of having slept, but that was clearly no longer an option now, assuming it ever was to begin with...

She lifted a hand to rub nervously at the back of her head, an awkward laugh escaping her as she watched Lena approach the training ring with something of a blank expression; at least one that she wasn't entirely sure how to read. Chise felt the three simple words pierce at her chest, hinting

to her something of an annoyed or displeased undertone. She still wasn't sure how to accurately determine how Lena felt about the situation, but she had a sneaking suspicion it was anything but "pleased." "a-Ah.. right. s-Sorry, for the inconvenience.. I had lost track of time." She mused sheepishly, her head lowering slowly toward Lena in a bow before standing straight again. She wanted to hear her mentor's thoughts on the execution of her technique, ask questions on how to more accurately and efficiently use it. She knew it was a better idea to simply listen to her this time and go sleep, yet a thought struck her.. "Uhm.. Truth be told, I didn't feel all too tired, because of the number of times I had been unconscious throughout the course of our training.. I felt like I practically slept the day away as it was.." She let out another nervous laugh as she tried to explain her reasoning for not sleeping while she was meant to. Honestly, it was mostly a copout effort to try and soften the blow of seeming so oblivious or unwilling to take care of her needs, but in fairness, it wasn't entirely inaccurate or a lie.

"I think I'm alright to go a little longer. Oh! This might help, actually." Chise chimed as an invisible light bulb seemingly popped to life above her head as a thought struck her. Reaching behind her back, Chise began to slowly dig around in her pouch for a few moments before pulling out two small scrolls in one hand, pinned together between her fingers. She then split them evenly into both of her hands now, one to each before taking a moment to close her eyes and focus inwardly for a brief time. Her chakra began to flow and swell naturally through her hands, transferring into the scrolls she had hold of, seemingly filling up until they'd finally "pop!" into a small discharge of white smoke that'd clear quickly, revealing in place of the two scrolls now two mugs held casually in each of her hands, steam rolling smoothly off their edges with a rich, strong scent to them. Chise stepped closer to Lena, careful to maintain the balance of the drinks before extending one to her mentor while holding the other close to herself. "I guess I should have asked if you wanted some first, sorry. I'm a coffee person in the morning." Her awkward, nervous expression that she had worn since Lena had shown up had instead now been replaced with a soft, relaxed smile that she wore while offering the beverage to Lena, her emerald eyes matching her mentor's attention.

Description: The user of this jutsu takes out a scroll within his pouch that was prepared before battle and holds it in one of his hands. By channeling his chakra into it, it will then poof and summon a coffee mug in its place that had been in Adachi's house prior. After downing the coffee, the caffeine will take quick effect upon the user due to the scientific fact that it blocks the receptors that slow down nerve cell activity. As a result, the user will have a slightly faster heartbeat and bloodflow, and thus, will be unaffected by any jutsu that has a potential factor that could put him to sleep. This coffee was pre-prepared by Adachi himself and sits amongst dozens of other mugs that contain anything from lattes to doubleshot espressos, either steaming hot or icy cold. The reserves within the refrigerator or hot vending system are restocked daily so there will never be a shortage of coffee. Ever.

Note: Effect lasts three turns.

"Drink them both, they will go to waste."

Lena was irked by her student's stubbornness, it was something that was a running factor during their training together. Lena didn't know whether to feel insulted or disappointed, a medical student should full well know they needed rest, but it was also good to see them put in effort with their combat ninjutsu as well.

"Fine, I'll play your game. I want you to make a Tree grow as fast as you can. Almost like a bullet, it's capabilities will be able to launch targets across the battlefield. Then when you've done that I want you to create a whole forest."

Now the question was, where would this forest go, if anymore trees were created there would be no space for any ind of movement. Lena performed a hand seal and then suddenly releases a great angry wall of flames covering a massive area of the forest, trees, leaves, nature itself consumed amongst it. Burning pyres of wood left in it's wake. A Large dent of it now gone or going.

A stiffness pulled at Chise's shoulders as her offer was refused. Somehow she seemed to anticipate it, yet that sense of anticipation didn't do anything to soften the twisting sensation she felt in her gut. "Uhm.. right. Of course." She hummed softly, a sheepish, awkward smile pulling at her expression as she closed her eyes and retracted the offered drink back toward herself. Chise didn't feel offended in the least; quite literally to the contrary, she was petrified at the thought of having offended Lena.. She had thought the act of pursuing her studies would have been something a mentor would have been proud of, though she hadn't given much thought to what her actions could be seen as, especially in the eyes of one that had specialized in the medical arts and was endeavoring to teach her to think and function in the same field. Regardless of all that, she was still at a loss for what particular reason Lena seemed so upset with her. It was rather difficult to apologize, or try to rectify it at all when she didn't understand or know what she did wrong...

Chise perked up once Lena had begun to rattle off a list of orderly commands for her. Chise's brows knitted together as she seemed to strain in an effort to keep up with everything that was being asked of her, suddenly fumbling about in an effort to free up her hands of the two drinks she had made, only to be interrupted by the sudden and abrupt scorching heat that enveloped the environment surrounding them. Her jaw dropped as she gawked at the devastation that the terrain had been put through in the blink of an eye, her emerald eyes catching the reflective embers that fluttered about the sky as a result of the technique that was used to level the area.

It all seemed.. quite unnecessary. Such a wealth of life in the form of a carefully nurtured biome through the test of time to be put to ash simply to serve a purpose as simple as trying to learn a new technique. She wanted to object to the act, insist on a different method, but it was already done; her objections would be moot. With a heavy sigh to herself, Chise afforded a generous effort to push past her disapproval with the situation, trying not to think too critically of what had happened or in too much detail. Instead, she wanted to focus on the task that had been posed to her; the act of replacing all that had been destroyed. But first, she was expected to perform a separate technique.

She needed to create a tree.. easy enough, in theory. After all, she had done just that not long ago by complete accident. The part she wasn't entirely certain of was needing to make it in such a rapid growth that it'd "shoot" from the ground and launch someone across the battlefield. This particular technique seemed oddly specific, yet not exactly obvious in how it was meant to be performed, at least in relation to what Chise was being given to work with from her mentor. Gnawing lightly along her bottom lip in contemplation, Chise slowly shuffled forward, closing her eyes as she made an effort to envision the sprouting of a tree ahead of her. She began to pool her chakra in a continual effort to recreate this particular vision, carefully funneling it through her contact with the ground..

But this wasn't good enough, at least not with respect to what it was meant to do, characteristically. She wasn't aiming to just "grow a tree" but rather for it to sprout from the ground in rapid succession and overwhelm someone or something with it's sheer momentum of it's growth. Just as she seemed to begin to manipulate the chakra into the creation of just another tree, she lifted her hands and performed a singular handseal, that being the snake before aggressively harnessing her concentrated chakra into the effort of pumping to life a tree in front of her. In an instant, the ground separated in a dividing crack that gave way to the rapid and instantaneous growth of a tree barreling skyward, it's branches whipping about, it's bark splintering like shrapnel yet growing faster than it could be whittled away at as it rapidly ascended past the soil it was born from until it was completely grown to the extent that her chakra could be used for.

The rapid and sudden growth of the tree was enough to surprise Chise and catch her off guard. She knew what she was trying to do, but once more, anticipating something didn't necessarily shield her from it once it actually occurred. the suddenness of the technique had thrown her onto her backside as she stumbled backwards. Her surprised expression seemed to glow as she looked up at the newfound tree with amazement. She knew this particular technique was intended to be used in a more offensive manner, yet it was simply enjoyable to watch, and see something spring to life with such vigor and determination.

With a resolute nod, she knew what she had to do next. Though a new tree now stood where the scorching fire technique had previously decimated, it was still a lone one, hardly filling out the full area by any means. She wanted to bring life to the swamp again. To see the beautiful reflection of moisture beading off of leaves that were freshly sprouted from branches of various shapes and sizes while life fluttered through them; carried by the gentle, soothing breeze that seemed to tie everything together. Chise knew that she was meant to do this to begin with, but now she felt obligated to do so, knowing it was something she was capable of performing.

Carefully, Chise pushed herself up from the ground, moving to dust herself off a bit before shifting her attention around her surroundings for a brief overview. It seemed like such an incredible scale that the simple impression of the thought toward filling it all in at once was enough to make her dizzy. Taking in a deep breath, she held it for a moment before letting it loose, slowly. She closed her eyes, making an effort to collect her thoughts and calm her mind. She knew what she needed to do, she also knew that it'd no doubt require an exorbitant amount of chakra as well concentration. Utilizing the chakra she had begun to harness with the previous technique, Chise simply pooled more through the same pathing; allowing her mokuton chakra to flaw freely and indiscriminately throughout the area surrounding them. She called to mind the reference of her memories from the past days she has spent in this place, with Lena. The images flashing across her mind of what it looked like when it was bustling with life and nature, prior to the technique that was used to clear it all away. It wasn't long before she realized the chakra she had poured into the area had saturated drastically into the soil, ready to be molded in a moment. Carefully, Chise lifted her hands and moved to form two handseals; first tiger, then snake, utilizing them to manipulate the chakra to form to the image she had called to her mind. In an instant, lush greenery had begun to sprout forward, curling and intertwining effortlessly amongst one another in a sprouting of what started as a handful of trees, that grew into a small canopy, and eventually into a bustling forest that enveloped the area in a smooth transition from barren to "alive" once again.

Chise's emerald eyes scanned across the field after they had opened from her concentrated state. She explored every little detail in casual inspection. She let out a soft sigh of relief, knowing now full well that she certainly preferred this look to the world than the barren one that it had become, even if for only a short time. Gingerly, her gaze softened, then lowered entirely as she seemed to dwell on a thought in temporary silence. Gradually, she turned to face Lena,

I don't handle the lingering sense of death very well.. ironic, since it's something I've been exposed to.. a lot. But apart from that, I was also just excited, to learn the new technique. Lena watched as Chise stirred, a little guilt in her it seemed and even maybe some hidden anger at the Threaded Woman's action against her forest - Lena tried not to feel bad, but couldn't help it. She didn't want her student to dislike her, but she couldn't help but feel irked. She let out a sigh under the creation of the first tree, which was very nicely done. Quickly followed up by the replacement of the old trees with new ones. A Silence shared between them as they observed it. Chise then apologised and Lena just simply nodded for now, moving on with the unfinished lesson.

"You now have the power to blow up your forest, albeit a portion of it at least. Now you'll have to overcome the fact that you have this decision over your creations, like an artist you must be able to let go of what you create to pursue improvement. By clapping your hands together and focusing chakra into some of these trees you can create a large chakra explosion."

Lena's eyesbrow raised at Chise, "A big decision for you. Nature Lover. Now if I was kind I'd give you a few hours to mull it over, decide and mentally prepare yourself, but we're now fighting and you only have a few moments."

The Threaded woman held out her hand towards Chise, her Dark Palm a few inches from her student's face - it glows with power as if building up with something.

The Threaded woman held out her hand towards Chise, her Dark Palm a few inches from her student's face - it glows with power as if building up with something.
Chise listened carefully to the new instruction she was being given. She was now expected to destroy what she had just made to replace the barren state of the world around her only moments ago. Somehow this didn't exactly surprise her by much, rather she seemed to push herself to focus more intently on the usefulness of being able to utilize her creations in such a way. Sure, she'd prefer to avoid doing so by most means, but to know that it was something she was capable of if in the worst case scenario, she felt somewhat assured by that simple fact.

She lingered on the silence of the air for a moment as she took the time to examine her surroundings, her attention drawn away from Lena; that was, until Lena began to talk again after the initial explanation of her next technique. She curved her attention sideward to eye Lena, but instead found the flat of the woman's palm outstretched directly into the line of her face, watching the swelling dark energy that was being conjured by her mentor. Chise's emerald eyes widened immediately as she felt tension burn in her joints, the air light in her lungs and catching sharply in her throat: She felt the danger of the situation. This was an instinct that she had felt before, more than once, but most notably she had learned to feel it now specifically with the training she was being put through with Lena. For better or worse, her mentor had put her through some precarious scenarios and now she was learning to anticipate them instinctively.

No sooner than the moment she identified the dark energy pooling into the palm that was stretched toward her, with brows knitted together as a sign of the tension throttling her nerves, she immediately pushed herself backwards with the throwing of her own body weight and the spring of her heels off the ground. In the same instant, Chise recalled a "fairly" recent technique she was just taught.. one that allowed for the creation of distance between her and her target, something that she needed now more than ever. Immediately, Chise lifted her hands to rapidly perform the snake hand seal whilst her body was carrying in the momentum of it's own weight from her backward leap away from Lena, watching as a tree similar to the previous incarnation she had made sprouted in violent haste beneath her mentor's feet, angled and aiming to hurl the woman not skyward, but rather push her in the opposite direction of Chise and into the wooded terrain that she had created moments ago.

Type: Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: After performing the Snake hand seal the user makes trees grow rapidly under the target, stabbing them and throwing them quite distantly.

Leaving little to chance on the possibility that Lena may have potentially avoided the technique or predicted it all together, Chise knew she was still expected to perform an additional technique; after all, it was no doubt the reason for why her mentor felt the need to put her in such a precarious situation once again.. Forcing her hand, despite her unwillingness to level so much life for such a seemingly miniscule purpose. With gritted teeth and a distance of at least 10 meters range separating them, presuming the previous technique used had successfully landed it's mark, Chise quickly separated her hands from the previous snake seal she had formed, only to immediately clap them together once more, pouring a rush of her chakra into a collection of the trees she had generated previously, of which were an isolated number she anticipated Lena had been tossed toward most specifically. The trees creaked, their bark splitting before an abrupt explosion swelled from the central point outward of the patch of trees she focused on; their leaves reduced to ash in an instant as each tree erupted one after another, leaving behind only a crater in place of the life that once stood instead.

Type: Supplementary/Offensive/Defensive
Rank: A
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: After using (Mokuton Hijutsu: Jukai Koutan) - Secret Wood Style: Birth Of Dense Woodland, the user will clap his hands and focus his chakra into a portion of the created forest, using said chakra to detonate it into a large chakra explosion, leveling the field and leaving a crater behind. The explosion will be concentrated around a given spot, damaging everything Mid-range from it.

With a stumbling footing that nearly put her onto her backside given the shockwave of the explosion she was barely out of range of, Chise managed to catch her balance from the backward momentum she had previously tossed herself into, the air that had been trapped in her lungs rushing out in a heavy panting breath as she eyed through the looming smoke of the destructive technique used, looking for Lena most specifically... "u-Uhm.. Lena-Sensei? Are you alright?"

Ok so I'm not as good as you two at writing and rp LMAO so we are gonna take the ooc route. Just as any questions about the techs if you have any. But I'll explain them and you just list some pros and cons and we'll move on.

P.s. you can't escape my teaching heuehuehuehe

Anyway this first one you will create multiple intertwining pillars of wood that will be used to attack by converging on to a large area. This is something useful for attacking multiple targets or taking out a widespread area if needed.

(Mokuton: Hashira Tsurī no Jutsu) - Wood Release: Pillar Tree Technique
Type: Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: The user will create multiple intertwining pillars rise up behind them several meters high and then sprout outwards sending multiple branches of pillars to converge on a large area and slamming into the ground. These branches are not heavily concentrated but rather are equally spread out with about 1 meter and half gap between each extending branch.

This technique makes use of both wood and earth, with the wood setting a target up to be struck with earth. You'd create a pillar from under your target, lifting them 3m into the air. Once they are in the air and in a more vulnerable position, you'd use earth spikes to rise and protrude through them. Simple pimple.

(Mokuton: Mokusei Senbon Hashira no Jutsu) - Wood Release: Wooden Needle Pillars Technique
Type: Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: The user will create one pillar to rise from the ground lifting the opponent into mid air (3 meters) where multiple spikes of earth will rise from the ground penetrating the victim.

This last A rank is legit bad ass lol. You cut your hand to draw blood and do a hand seal before slamming your hands on the ground. This allows you to create what is known as "Weirwoods". These unique trees have white bark, blood red leaves and even bloodier sap. They also come with that smug face of yours on it :0 Due to you using your blood, you have a unique connection to each tree, allowing you to close your eyes and see through any of the faces on the trees. You can also carve these faces into any pre existing tree, whether its a weirwood or a normal tree or a tree from another technique. From what I can see, there's no actual limit on how many or how far you can create these trees or carve the faces. Ima assume in nw it maxes at 1 LM but still. You can make hundreds or thousands of these or simply keep carving faces in random LM, though it's only usable 3 times.

(Mokuton: Furui kamigami) - Wood Style: Old Gods
Type:
Supplementary
Rank: A
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 30
Damage: N/A
Description: The user will cut one hand allowing blood to cover their palm. They will then make the snake handseal and slam their palms on the ground. In seven locations across the battlefield, a special type of tree dubbed the "weirwood" will grow. These weirwood trees have white bark, blood red leaves, and blood red sap. On the trunk of each of these trees is the carving of a face reminiscent of the user's own. The blood red coloring of the leaves and sap is due to the use of the user's blood in the technique, and gives the user a connection to the trees. By closing their eyes the user can access any of the trees and see through the face carved in the trunk. The user can also carve these faces into preexisting trees for the same purpose, making this useful for scouting.

Note: Only useable thrice per battle.
Note: Can only see through one tree at a time.
Note: Courtest of Nanaki
