I'm asking because I read that when the series was airing (in Japan) there was a massive wave of both L- and Kira-supporters, wearing a tag of either L or K on their clothes, bags etc.. It's fun when the fans are so dedicated.
The show is, in my opinion, on of the better anime series/manga that was ever written. The plot is intelligent (even with the supernatural phenomenons involved) and the motives of the main characters are so well thought out and portrayed that one cannot help consider both sides. That's some decent crime fiction for ya
I have to admit, sometimes I totally doted for Kira. He had a somewhat ethical cause behind his actions, while L, even if officially on the side of the law, just 'wanted to win'. It is an interesting discussion.
I should have rephrased my question to:
Who do you think is running the most valiant cause? L, working to protect public law (theoretically), or Kira, who thinks the law has too many flaws and just want to stop crime with 'eye to eye'?
