As much as I dislike Sasuke, I have to give credit where it’s due. Sasuke is a warrior that would rather decimate his opponents in hand-to-hand combat as oppose to killing them while they’re in a genjutsu (despite the fact that he was going to kill the Gokage while they were trapped in IT lol). Anyway, at the end of Vote 2 during their final battle, Sasuke could’ve put Naruto in a Rinnegan genjutsu at any given moment and there may have been no way for Naruto to get out of it. Nevertheless, Kishimoto had to spare Naruto that embarrassing neg-diff defeat to have things work out in the main character’s favor.
Sasuke could’ve neg diff’d all of the Shin Uchiha clones in that cave with a mere glance and frankly, I hate the fact that he didn’t. Obviously he could’ve done the same to the real Shin during their first encounter with the children around, which would’ve made far more sense considering that none of Sasuke’s crew would’ve taken any casualties had he used genjutsu from the get go. Sauce could’ve also put Momo and Kin in a Rinnegan genjutsu but whether or not it would work on them is unknown. Momoshiki for sure had a Rinnegan so he may not have been effected but Kinshiki is a tossup. Thus far, Kaguya is the only alien Otsutsuki that’s been shown to have an affinity using genjutsu.
We all know that this wouldn’t work on king Madara though, but I digress; Sasuke restricts himself to make his enemies look better. We should appreciate the fact that Sasuke doesn’t use genjutsu at all anymore because he would literally neg every non-Rinnegan bearing opponent.
