I’m at a loss for these games popularity, I had bloodborne and holy hell was it slow. Not story pacing or anything like that. But actual gameplay is slow af. That’s what seems to drive the difficulty of those games for me, is speed of movement. I know those games have a rep for being hard, which is why I got bb, but is that WHY they’re hard? I get all that, and appreciate challenge, the challenge here seems more with just how slow gameplay is in general, at least imo. Shit like contra and battletoads where hard af, but still just as fast paced as any other platformers. The main challenges there was just the sheer amount of shit on screen that could kill you after awhileIt's hard because it punishes mistakes that results in 1-2 shot deaths.
You have to learn the enemy or die. This game isn't hack and slash like Devil May Cry. Most of the bosses if not all, will push your shit in if you attempt to rush them and press X to win.
It doesn't do that much hand-holding. It's why Crash Bandicoot is considered Dark Souls-esqe. Why Cuphead is considered the Dark Souls of platforming etc.
Basically, if it's hard, it must be dark souls. Because Battle Toads, Contra and Ninja Gaiden apparently didn't make children and men alike cry in pure rage.
