Alright dude. The thing is, the Gates are pretty straightforward, but we still gotta go through some of the steps, so tell me a little about the ability and its mechanics, eh?

Okay thanks.

I came across Gates many times while learning and teaching gentle fist. They are simply chakra points that limits the flow of chakra, by opening them, one increase the amount of chakra passage and thus strength and speed. See this like opening a tap of water, the more you open it, the higher the pressure of water flow. Through training alone, one is able to master how to unlock these chakra points and one don't even need to be a gentle fist user.

What I want to know is if these chakra points are part of the 361 chakra points present in the body. Are the Gates normally closed or they acting like normal tenketsus until one opens the door ajar by opening them?

As I understood from the graphics way back the Gates were like nerve clusters; a bottleneck were many 'veins' of the chakra circulatory system met. But they also contained energy in their own right, since opening them floods the system with chakra.

Anyway, the technique looks as such:

( Hachimon ) The Eight Inner Gates
Type: Supplementary
Rank: N/A
Range: Short
Chakra: N/A
Damage: N/A
Description: The Eight Gates are eight specific points on a person's Chakra Pathway System. They limit the overall flow of chakra within a person's body. The basis for the idea of the chakra gates comes from the body's limits on the functions within it. This makes the body much weaker, but it keeps the body from expiring too soon. By undergoing intense training, one can learn how to open these gates allowing the user to surpass their own physical limits at the cost of extreme damage to their own body. The user opens the gates in sequence, up to the desired gate to achieve its effects. Opening the gates is a fast process and can be done in mere moments up to the desired gate. EIG Masters can do so easily and in a passive way (not spending a move). When one opens up to a given EIG, that opening lasts 4 turns. Opening additional gates upon the last turn of the active opening adds 2 turns. However, there is an exception. Opening the last and 8th gate can only be done for 2 turns, even if the user opens it immediately.

(Kaimon) - The Gate of Opening: The user activates The Gate of Opening or First Gate, which is located in the brain. This gate removes the restraints of the brain on the muscles so he can begin to access 100% of their strength. Unlocking this gate allows the user to use the Front Lotus. This gate adds +5 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 1.5x faster. This gate also adds +10 chakra and damage to Ninjutsu. User suffers -5 damage per turn.
(Kyūmon) - The Gate of Healing: The user activates the Gate of Healing or 2nd Gate (also named Rest Gate) which is located in the brain. Forcibly increases one's physical strength and temporarily re-energizes the body. This gate adds +10 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 2x faster. This gate also adds +10 chakra and damage to Ninjutsu. User suffers -10 damage.
(Seimon) - The Gate of Life: The user activates the Gate of Life or 3rd Gate which is located in the Spinal cord. The increased blood flow turns the skin red. Allows the user to use Hidden Lotus. This gate adds +15 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 2.5x faster. This gate also adds +10 chakra and damage to Ninjutsu. User suffers -15 damage.
(Shōmon) - The Gate of Pain: The user activates the Gate of Pain or 4th Gate (also named Wound Gate) which is located in the Spinal cord, lower than the Seimon. Increases the user's strength and speed. May cause muscle tissue to begin to tear on use. This gate adds +20 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 3x faster. This gate also adds +15 chakra and damage to Ninjutsu. User suffers -15 damage.
(Tomon) - The Gate of Limit: The user activates the Gate of Limit or 5th gate, which is located in the abdomen. Increases the user's speed and power. This gate adds +30 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 3.5x faster. This gate also adds +15 chakra and damage to Ninjutsu. User suffers -15 damage.
(Keimon) - Gate of View: The user activates the Gate of View or 6th Gate, located in the stomach. Increases the user's speed and power. Opening of this gate releases such enormous amounts of chakra that it can cause nearby water bodies to form a vortex around the user. Allows the user to perform the Morning Peacock. This gate adds +40 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 4x faster. This gate also adds +15 chakra and damage to Ninjutsu. User suffers -25 damage.
(Kyōmon) - The Gate of Wonder: The user activates the Gate of Wonder or 7th Gate which is located below the stomach. Those who open this gate will pour glowing green sweat from every inch of their body, which immediately evaporates from their own heat energy, creating an aura which people would mistake as a green chakra coating. However, the side effects of opening the gate are that the user's muscle fibers are ripped to shreds after exiting this gate, causing intense pain if anything or anyone touches him. Allows the user to perform the Daytime Tiger without great strain on the user's chakra. This gate adds +60 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 7x faster. This gate also adds +20 chakra and damage to Ninjutsu. User suffers -40 damage.
(Shimon) - The Gate of Death: The user activates the Gate of Death or 8th Gate, located at the heart, requiring the user to puncture their chest just above the heart in order to open it, enabling the user to achieve what is described as The Eight Gates Released Formation" ( Hachimon Tonkō no Jin ). Opening this gate will cause the user's blood to emanate a flaming aura of red steam, the so-called Steam of Blood ( Chi no Jōki ) from all pores of their body, hair, and eyebrows. Releasing this gate uses up all of the body's energy while making the heart pump at maximum power. Exceeding the power of every other gate, the user is temporarily granted approximately a hundred times their normal power, far beyond that of the five Kage. Once activated, those who are capable can perform the Evening Elephant and the Night Guy. The side effect of opening this gate is that it comes at the expense of the user's life, causing the user to crumble to ash after their chakra runs out, having virtually cooked themselves from the inside-out. This is unlike opening the other gates, which simply injure or damage the body. This gate adds +120 damage to Taijutsu and the user becomes 8x faster and allows the user to warp space with his speed.

It's actually pretty simple, if you think about it. Scales linearly up to the 6th Gate and the drawbacks, although more impactful in WSE, are manageable to a degree. Tell me what you think about it. Look at the restrictions; using the Gates is a trade-off. You sacrifice your ability to use a lot of Ninjutsu for speed and Taijutsu damage, for a time. That means you have to make that trade-off worth it. Where's your cut-off point?

Actually I feel the lower Gates (1-6) should have less ninjutsu restriction. Say one is only able to use A rank and below for lower Gates and then b rank and below for higher Gates. Just like you said, one could easily run out of health if one is not careful. Speaking of which, Do we receive the damage if we open another gate before it time out.
for example, I opened 4th gate and before it timed out, I opened the 5th and then it timed out at fifth gate. Do I receive the damage from both 4th and 5th gate or just 5th gate?

I suppose it does incentivize Gate user to start high, yes. It's kind of a binary system in that regard.
I'd say that you receive the damage of your final opened Gate, and not for each opened Gate, otherwise going from 1 through 7 would be lethal for most people. This hasn't been really tested though, but I'll bring it up.

The Gates are, as I've mentioned, fairly simple. But the 7th and 8th Gate are different from the rest, for good reason. You know the techniques associated with these, and their power. Some of the numbers can get pretty wild. You're restricted in the Ninjutsu department, yes, but you have other options. There are techniques for dodging, defending and, most prominently, for offensive action. Pick out a few techniques you find interesting, or have questions about, from the bunch.

Okay.

(Chiratsuki Kaihi) Flicker Evasion
Type: Defensive
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: N/A
Damage: N/A
Description:
A skill usable by all EIG users and masters, once one has opened at least one of the EIG, he will move at high speeds to dodge, attack or defend from techniques. The ability pertains to movement in the battle field, meaning running, walking, jumping, dashing, etc and its speed depends on the Gate currently opened.
Note: This version can only be used by EIG masters with at least one gate opened

This essentially let's me move and dodge jutsu and depending on my speed, I might even be able to evade large scale attacks. Probably the most important albeit the lowest ranked. One question though, it says on the description that eig users and masters then in the restriction, mentioned only masters. which is which?

( Sukaiu~ōku ) - Sky Walk
Type: Supplementary
Rank: B
Range: Short - Long
Chakra: N/A
Damage: N/A
Description: A skill usable by all EIG users and masters, once one has opened at least six of the EIG, he will gain the ability to walk on air to dodge, attack or defend from techniques. The ability pertains to movement in the air, meaning walking, jumping, dashing off the air itself etc and its speed depends on the Gate currently opened.
Note: Must have at least one gate opened.

Another useful one albeit confusing pre-requisites. first gate or 6th gate? I want to believe it's the later since being able to walk on air would require immense speed far above that of the first gate.

(Hachimon: Asa Kujaku) - Eight Gates: Morning Peacock
Rank:A
Type:Attack
Range:Short
Chakra Cost: N/A
Damage Points: 60
Description: The user will approach the target in a crane stance and kick then into the sky. Then the target is stuck with many punches that are literally on fire, which makes the peacock design in the air.The last blow send the enemy flying into the ground
Requirements:6 gates open

I like this simply because it requires no chakra, likewise some others. It gives me the chance to be able to use a tai min combo even while in EIG mode. Is this not possible?

(Hachimon: Hirudora) - Eight Gates: Daytime Tiger
Rank: S
Type: Attack
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: 40
Damage points: 80
Description: Daytime tiger is a strong and fast attack only useable through the activation of the seventh gate. the user makes a fist in front of their face with one hand and then taps it with their other, which creates a massive amount of air pressure resembling a tiger. The user then forms a unique hand seal, which launches the tiger at the opponent. The air pressure will condense as it's moving and be focused into a single point. The technique then explodes before impact, releasing the built up air pressure in an instant. A massive concussive explosion is created which can be felt a significant distance away.
Note: Use of technique will result in the user collapsing two turns after use due to tremendous pain.
Note: Can only be used twice.
Note: Requires EIG mastery.

Who wouldn't love this one. However, the drawback is huge. Maybe I'm over thinking this but tell me sense, would collapse happen to mean pass out or incapable of doing anything or simply paralysed? And for how long? Or maybe it's unquantifiable thus carries no significance?

(Koyubi Kōgeki) - Little Toe Attack
Rank: S
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: N/A
Damage Points: 80
Description: After opening the at least the 4th Inner Gate, the user attacks the opponent with a very powerful and fast extended leg drop kick. Guy used this attack against the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path to literally attack its little toe, sending it toppling over, with great force. Its powerful enough to create a large crater upon impact, destroying the nearby area.

Probably the only S-rank EIG Tai with no chakra cost. very good and no drawback at the end.

The 8gate exclusives I'll most definitely not use due to the death clause unless I really feel like dying. With the new health system though, would this change since death is now a scarce commodity?

Typo. There's no other version and the description allows for usage by normal EIG users. Plus, it's what logically makes sense. I see your point though.

I'd go with the same answer as I gave above; go with the description. I'll bring these two examples up, though.

You could do that, though your choice of Ninjutsu is restricted by the Gates.

I'd say if you have not received some significant form of healing within those two turns you simply collapse and lose the match; as in you lose consciousness, or at least for all intents and purposes do so.

(Koyubi Kōgeki) - Little Toe Attack

You wouldn't crumble into dust; just basically be left a shell of your former self and as close to death as you can come. 0 HP and you slowly regenerate. However, in the long-term I think we'll probably look at stuff like that and implement some special notes on how it affects the user.

Anyway, some confusing notes aside, the foundation is simple and solid. You're restricted in your Ninjutsu usage, but there's still room for minor Nin combinations, or the use of other, special stuff like Kenjutsu, K'Tai, some CFS, etcetera. The world is your oister.
Think about your own arsenal; which abilities would you want to use alongside the Gates? Since you regenerate technique usages in WSE you'll be more free to use the Gates, so it'll be very relevant for you to think about how to apply it to 'real' battle situations.

Understood Sensei.

Another question sensei, about the jutsu restriction. one is unable to use above B-ranks. So what if you have an already activated seal that you are sustaining, or a self activating seal that is above B-rank? if the clause means I can't mold above 20 chakra, what if I'm not the one molding the chakra but an autonomous seal on my body, can a seal siphon more than b-rank chakra from my body?

If something is already activated and can function largely autonomously, say with just additional chakra provided by you bu no further active manipulation, then I think it'd be fine. I'd say in the case of an autonomous seal, even though logically I suppose it would work, I'd say just stick with the ranking restriction, bearing the notes I started with in mind.

I can see you're already thinking about how this ability would work out with your fighting style. That's a very good thing to consider. So for your next little assignment; try talking a bit about how you normally fight and how the Gates would change that. This is an ability that isn't seen overly much in neither the NW or the BA, but with regenerating usages in WSE, as I've mentioned before I think, your opportunities are more open now. It's a lot of speed and punching strength, but it requires you to get up close and personal, usually. How would you fit those things with how you fight now? Consider the restrictions on Ninjutsu and other modes versus your arsenal and go-to techniques.

So a technique

Fuinjutsu: Arakune no Okubyō - Sealing Art: The Cowardice of Arachne

Type: Supplementary/Defensive
Rank: A
Range: Close
Chakra: N/A (-5 when the user forcibly moves it from a spot)
Damage: N/A
Description: The use has a fuin tattoo in form of a large spider on his body which passively can move around the body of the user like a tattoo moving around a body. The spider has nothing much to do than sensing and responding whenever a foreign seal(which is not of the user) is marked/placed on the user. The spider moves immediately towards the foreign seal and devours it and becomes bigger in size. This specifically is meant to destroy the source of a sealing jutsu(like marks and tags) placed on the user only, instead of negating the effect of the seal itself. By sealing the external sealing source within himself via devouring, Arachne is able to neutralize a sealing technique.*
NOTE: Arachne leeches the user's chakra for it to devour sealing marks. The rank of the foreign fuin seals determines the amount of chakra Arachne leeches. 20 if the seal is B-rank and 30 if the seal is A-rank in nature.
NOTE: Can devour a single fuin sealing marks/tag. However the user can sacrifice 20 chakra to repair/refresh Arachne's sealing ability. Refreshing Arachne can be done 2x per battle
NOTE: Must be mentioned on bio about Arachne passive ability as Arachne is a tattoo that is drawn on the body before hand
NOTE: By default, it is drawn on the user's back. But the user can spend 5 chakra to change its position. This is different to when he moves in fear of a foreign body which is passive

As you can see, the criteria for it's activation is foreign seal and what if the seal activates while I'm in EIG mode and seeks to leech 30 chakra from me?

What if I activated a B-rank jutsu that boosts the rank of techniques by one rank and I use a B-rank tech which is still within the confines of EIG restriction, but the activated jutsu boost it to A-rank. Would it work? No?

As I understand it this specific technique would work, since it does not seem to require any conscious input from the user. Now for a boost... it depends on the boost, but, again, if it's an effect that 'automatically' boosts your technique's rank then I don't see why not. Former Akatsuki Rings, for example, would work.
Do you have any other questions or uncertainties before we start edging towards the end? I'd also like for you to put some words to the questions I asked in the last post. Just some thoughts are fine, but it's not the abilities themselves people usually stumble over; it's how they're combined with another abilities and a big arsenal of customs, so ask if you have questions.

I don't have any more question. You touched those points.

As for the inculcation, I believe, I am someone who moves close to the opponent almost immediately the fight starts, even before gaining EIG, so it won't be difficult for me to repeat that. As a matter of fact, it makes it easier. Combining this with my paw absorption ability, I believe I can move up close without fear.
I like pressuring opponents with close combat so they don't have the luxury of throwing long range boosted techniques. Also I'm a medical ninja. I think that's a plus.

I don't have any more question. You touched those points.

As for the inculcation, I believe, I am someone who moves close to the opponent almost immediately the fight starts, even before gaining EIG, so it won't be difficult for me to repeat that. It's a thrilling way of fighting. Not a lot of room for error, but that applies to both combatants.
With that, I think I'll call it for your training session. I hope we covered a lot of the misunderstanding that can arise with this ability and that you feel equipped to make use of the ability responsibly, but also with that level of mastery that makes everything more fun.
Good luck with it.
