It irks me that we never actually find out who the second parents are for Hagoromo, Hamura and their descendants as well and we're just left to fill in the gaps on whether they're genetically fullblooded Otsutuski or not. Or are we supposed to assume they created their kids using Yin Yang Release? Poor writing imo

Hagoromo's children branched off into separate clans while the moon Otsutsuki kept their name and tradition and are even aware of the main Otsutsuki clan. Maybe that's why.

Its possible that the moon Otsutsuki were aware of the main branch initially but probably they were turned into a myth as time passed a just like the So6P. That's why Toneri was shocked to find that they still exists imo.

There is a main and side family on the moon, and a REAL main family out in space. I think Toneri theorized, but only got confirmation now, about other Ootsutsukis being out there.

He is part human, since you can tell Hamura had a human wife as the old man who shows Hinata the flashback has brown hair and brown beard.

Well i'm only speculating as well but Toneri and the other moon guys are more Otsutsuki than human if at all while Naruto and the rest are more human. They seem like a proud race to me and i actually would expect all earthlings to be considered lower life forms by them.
