For real, this is one of the reasons why older anime that actually took into consideration cultural differences and localized anime appropriately will always feel more natural to me than anime these days that just translate everything, even japanese-based puns, as they are, even if they don't work in English. In this case, it's clear they kept the Japanese line the same, instead of changing it to something like "don't shoot, he's not the enemy". Heck, at least call him Goku Ebony or some other shade of black. lmao!!
