Chidori as sphere-shaped raiton was only shown in part 1 anime and it's an animation mistake which was later corrected in part 2. In manga chidori was never portrayed like that.

Great point.

Lack of information lead to Kakashi's false statement . He believed Minato was first but its clear Ashura was.

People believed Columbus was first to discover America yet now we have proofs that Vikings did it before him.

that's a fair point. here's an even fairer point: Kakashi making Chidori based on Minato's Rasengan.

Are you saying that Kakashi did not make Chidori since Indra was shown to have it in the filler?

Yeah you can get a false impression in the anime, because that's how raiton chakra is drawn there. "outskirts" (not sure if that's a correct word) are either blue/purple/grey/black but the core is completely white to the point you can't see the hand so it gives the false impression of "chakra ball/sphere". While in reality chidori always was a formless coverage of raiton chakra.

I still see a sphere-like emission of chidori so I don't know where you're going with this

Then look again at my scan which is showing the correct looking chidori. It is suppose to cover your whole hand with raiton.
They completely fk*** up in the anime. Sasuke is literally holding chidori sphere in his hand and it's not even touching his hand, but levitating slightly above it.

What's the difference if he's holding the sphere-like emissions or not? It's still a sphere.

Does the manga version of chidori look like sphere to you ?

Canon version of chidori (manga) is formless.

Yes, if formless meant "somewhat sphere-like," I'd agree with you though.

So let me get this straight, you don't really see any difference between manga and anime versions?

Wasn't canon, just like how they changed Indra's eyes to match Sasuke's.

I see a difference in Sasuke's chidori from earlier, but there's not really any in the images from this post.

A point that Red shitted on.

How? The four finger hell stab looks and is used just like chidori/raikiri when it’s used to stab. Op’s Logic is it looks the same and it’s used the same therefore ashura invented it. It doesn’t work only one way just to suit his thread lol

4 Finger Stab's shape is much more refined than Chidori, which is known to flicker lightening wildly.

Red shat on your point by pointing out there's a clear difference in the appearance of Chidori and 4 Finger Stab.

Lol no he didn’t, your scan shows a 1 finger btw. It looks as much like chidori as ashuras looked like a rasengan, that’s my point

It looks nothing like Chidori. It's too refined.

What you argued,
But it sure looks and works a lot like a 4 finger hell stab. You wouldn’t say the 3rd raikage created chidori cause he had something that looked identical before right? Well there you go

Ashura's attack looks exactly like multiple Rasengans in one ball without missing a beat.

It's the same kind of difference. It's just that Sasuke in anime was holding his hand and chidori upwards and Kakashi is holding them downwards. Anyways in anime you can clearly see Kakashi is holding under his hand something of a "ball" shaped raiton. Also the top of his hand isn't covered with raiton, clearly the raiton is concentrated only under his hand.

In the manga you can see that was never the case. Kakashi indeed also stretched his fingers so it looks like he's holding something, but in reality he isn't and raiton is formlessly covering his whole hand, instead of being concentrated into the ball which you hold.

Nah man. Take a closer look at the manga panel. Kakashi is gripping the shit out of that Chidori as it manifests a square-like shape.

Concession accepted.
