What do you think of Ao as a villain so far?

Konohamaru being taken off guard was weird, but I guess he didn't expect Ao to be a freaking mechanical robot.

I agree.

I hope Ao doesn't get defeated that easily in the next chapter. I wanna see him go all out, maybe even blow himself up if he has to.

Judging by the chapter I don’t think he necessarily might have to go all out to handle current team 7. I am curious if boruto actually has a plan once the translations released, I do think he has a dbz android style bomb. I think he’ll stick around for a bit though, for some reason i don’t think they brought him back just to die as the first villain. I think he’ll lose at some point in this fight somehow. but I think he’ll come back

"Off guard?
They are in battle, the real clash was about to begin, Konohamaru should be on guard and expecting an attack."

Yes off guard and of course he should be expecting an attack, but he wasn't expecting fireballs to come out of his chest which is why he was caught OFF GAURD (In case you didn't know its not normal or a known thing for firebals to rip out of yourse chest. It's ninja tech so doubt konohanaru could sense it even if he was aware of such possibilities and again he was extremely close and still managed not to completely disfigure his face. You may not have called him weak but you called his attacks fodder without even taking in to account the nature of the attack.

Most people have never come across displays of attacks like that so they won't expect it and Since its tech can ninja sense it ? Just because you are not impressed doesn't make it fodder and as far as the range goes again it was close range and its not like he could dip to the side givng that he was in a narrow cave and it doens't really matter if you don't think that wasn't a surprise attack because it was the ltierally defitnition of a surpirse attack.Your just complaining because we didn't see konohamaru use a bunch justu

In this manga every attack is a surprise attack if you go by the definition. You have to warn the opponent that you are going to attack to not make a surprise attack.
I see it as what it is, a weird frontal middle ranged attack.Unless it is stated in the text that Konohamaru movements were restricted by something and that the bombs contained a poison, Konohamaru has been fodderized by a fodder technique.
You are impressed by that technique?

I will say I like how he's been portrayed, both design wise and personality wise.. Like for once I can say the manga changed a character in a good way. It did feel a bit OOC to see him like this though, I will admit that. He looked like he was someone's dad or something when Kishi drew him, just wasn't very intimidating considering who he was in the Mist. Plus, he was almost Mei's comedic relief at times. So yeah. It was weird to see him pop up as a villain.. However, I feel like this is how he should have been all along (aside from the villain thing).

I just hope they don't nerf the hell out of him later on in the series, because it appears for now, he's letting Team 7 go? At least that's what I got out of the last page. Under normal circumstances I would assume he'd go after them using his byakugan.. but I think for plot alone he's going to just let them go and report back to Naruto. Then again, I haven't read the manga in English yet, I just saw the pictures lol. If that's what was happening, it will open up awareness that Ao and specifically Kara are on the move. It would really put things into motion as far as plot goes by opening the door to other interesting confrontations as team 7 takes on missions. I'm sure they won't be battling the real Kara members for at least another 20 chapters, but will probably end up fighting against people like Ao. Hired shinobi that are doing most of their leg work for now, probably in exchange for tech.
