What if Mito sided with Madara?

It seems Uzumaki are always trying to save the Uchiha from the dark, to save them from themselves in their hatred. Uzumaki seemed to function as mediators between Senju and Uchiha clan, so here comes Madara and Mito with all its symbolism.

In the opening it seems like she was a gracious and mediator between Senju and Uchiha.

This is a what if: Just as she gained power for Hashirama baiting the Kyuubi in herself, she could've done the same thing to Madara. And both clans together, it could mean that the Senju supremacy wouldn't happen because there would be an equilibrium of forces - since the Uchiha were weakened to the point of having defectors.

And if the Uzushiogakure made an alliance with the Uchiha, could've the Massacre be avoided? Could Uzushiogakure be saved from destruction?

No. Actually I mean a political alliance, still in Konoha peace, but with turmoils already taking place.
And also the personal relation both could develop. I mean, both their clans were directly or indirectly affected by Senju supremacy. They have a lot in common. No wonder why Madara remembered her instead of Hashirama himself.

I understand that Mito clearly married Hashirama because of the present situation that was favorable to the Senju side. But I think she may have regretted that. Her clan and village was destroyed and it seems Konoha didn't move a finger to help them.
It happened similarly with the Uchiha Clan.

Maybe marrying the stronger person wasn't the wisest thing to do? I wonder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mito saved the day. For all we know Hashirama would have gotten killed if she didn't seal the Nine-Tails in herself during the fight.

Their clans wouldn't have sided though. Uzumaki and Senju were very close clans. The Uzumaki Symbol is the basis of the Leaf village symbol, which was sprearheaded by the Senju. There's no reason why'd they side with the Uchiha when everybody in the world besides Hashirama disliked the Uchiha during the Feudal War period.

Uzumaki are cousins of the Senju, there is no mention of them being relatives of the Uchiha too. Uchiha are descendants of Indra, Senju of Ashura, and that's the off-shoot where the Uzumaki come in. That doesn't link them genetically to the Uchiha anymore than you are to your 14th cousin, which is basically none.

What if Jugo, Sasuke, and Kimimaro had a gay 3 way in their prison cell? What if Tenten was secretly Kaguya right now?

A and B) Ok, you are right and I agree. They really are distant relatives, but even so, the Uchiha Clan just was hated when they started having defectors coming to the Senju, Madara being borderline insane and being badmouthed by his own clansmen and etc.
Before that they were fully respected, admired and deemed as noble and prestigious as the only clan who could stand up to the Senju.

Considering that in the real world there are weaker sides that team up to defeat a greater foe, I would consider the slim possibility of Mito siding with the Uchiha. That's just IF she and her clan didn't want to be Senju dogs .....And later be exterminated....I don't know, maybe the alliance with Hashirama wasn't unanimous?

That's just a what if.

Even if uzmakis did want to make peace with uchihas and try to act as mediator between uchihas and senjus, uchihas would have rejected them. Uchihas have superiority complex, at least their leader through the eras do. They would never accept a weaker clan as anything. Senjus were only recognized because they were strong enough to beat them otherwise uchihas would have looked down on them too.
