[Discussion] Luffy seeing the future (Marineford)

I'm trying to figure this out..

During the whole Marineford Mihawk slicing Luffy's arms situation, was that in fact Luffy seeing the future due to Observation Haki? Or was that just a thought that went through his mind, just like how any one of us can imagine what would happen if someone with a sword sliced off our hands? (We can picture it in our brains)

Did Oda just give us a visual of what Luffy was imagining would happen?

Or did Luffy actually see a glimpse into the future due to Observation Haki?

It's hard to tell, I'd say by what luffy had said though "ooh that was close" or something like that, that especially due to it being a basically deathly circumstance he got a brief moment of really good observation haki(like the couple times with kings) so I bet at marine ford oda already planned for observation haki to go that far, he probably already had katakuri planned out to, never doubt oda

Edit: a though it's possible at that time luffy just imagined his arms being cut off but I bet if you were to ask oda now he'd say luffy got a quick power up or nada and saw in the future, meaning at first oda might not have intended it to be interpreted as him seeing in the future but now he would

I kinda doubt it because he wasn't able to sense Mihawk coming. I don't think it's observtion haki but I'm assuming you made this thread in relation to his comment towards brulee about surpassing Dogtooth's haki?
I feel like he's gonna utilize the voice of all things instead.

Yeah bro, I keep seeing a lot of people talking about the Marineford incident as though it was a fact that Luffy did see into the future, but idk I'm on the fence about it..

I feel like he's gonna utilize the voice of all things instead.

That will be awesome! I'm always looking forward to Oda showing us more of TVOAT!!

Luffy saw the future, not really sure why this is still a question it's not the first time Luffy's used haki unknowingly and for us to get an explanation later(he used conq. haki to tame a bull or something during the duval encounter if iirc) Plus we've known from back at Skypeia that mantra/ob haki can allow you to see the future, when fighting Satori Luffy pulls his arm back for a punch and Satori says "oh you're going to stretch" and moves. How would he know Luffy would stretch?

Obviously, Luffy will be able to see the future for few seconds. He is a main character after all.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm on the fence about it too. But I feel like Oda was pushing for it to be next since the fisherman arc with the neptunians and the Zou arc with the island zou. So I want luffy to use that power to defeat Dogtooth personally because Dogtooth has shown the potency of observation haki to the highest degree. If Luffy match that haki, Luffy will still have the problem of his Gear 4 time limit right?

I thought this was obvious...Luffy even said "If I had stretched my arms, he would have them off" that doesn't sound like his imagination...I even remember having this conversation when Katakuri's powers were introduced.

It was obviously a glimpse of his haki as most of the people here have pointed out. As Rayleigh mentioned in the latest chapter that Haki devlops the most in situation of battle so it was for luffy at marineford.

It was observation haki luffy in that arc was showing glimpses of his haki periodically I believe it was just oda foreshadowing like he does so much I mean how many times does luffy has a power up coming then Jr flashes back to when he almost did it? A lot lol. But this is my opinion

Haki is the latent ability tho everyone has that potential only exception is conquerors haki

He even knew he was going to lose his arms and was saying that it was a close one.

In the Mohawk Luffy part. I think that was Luffy first full blast of Observation Haki. By that it was a life or death flash. I also think Luffy has show it other times just not as much. It also comes off as him just being a good fighter but avoiding bullet.

This was already said with the bill and conquerors haki coming out. But now Luffy has learned to use it more. But will see if him and big mom fight or not.
I don’t think so but will say at the end haki points now.

I think that Luffy has also awakened his ability also. Example is all the times he has flown with people. The all land I believe this is his awakened ability. But because it not fully awakened they only get the softer rubber impact. Now the reason is because Luffy has had is fruit since a young kid. So is ability being awaken is likely. Also not sure if it’s them or the ground that’s going rubber for a sec, think them cause he is usually holding them. But not all times.

Now no big mom fight. She will loose all her weight and pass out or something after cake. Leaving no one strong enough to beat straw hat Luffy on the island. But after she wakes up she is angry and goes after Fishman island. Luffy will have to fight kido and win. Then rush off to save fish man island from big mom. Know Luffy will be almost pk. Just Blackbeard. Who is now waiting for straw hat to surface. Also waiting is the navy to kill who ever wins the title of pk. Before they can go to the island and claim their prize. Can’t wait please less breaks more manga of oda.

It was luffy's future predicting power. Nico robin has also showcased this trick, in alabasta arc. Its not observation haki by any means.
