No not really, engineering is a science, what do you think a BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering)is? You're mislabeling scientist as chemist or "mad scientist". Plus like I said Franky studied at Vega's lab for two years and adapted the laser tech of the Pacifista so he's like a Vega-light. Franky more than adequately fits the role of ship scientist(mechanical engineer) and Chopper fits the role of scientist as well(biologist/chemist)
