Why does Katakuri have purple hair? In the manga, his hair is drawn pure black and it has no tint to it, so it shouldn't be purple.

Katakuri it's the name of a flower with purplish/pink color, so his hair color was expected.

I dare anyone to say he wasn't hyped the first time he has seen the 6th opening. All openings are in no comparison to "Brand New World". This 20th opening is meh.
Wow guys, I just saw episode 808. It covers the duel between Sanji and Luffy and their farewell.
Man it's been done so well in the anime, beautiful animation and music and it's so sad. Really a must watch to get you pumped for this coming arc in the anime. It's going to be a long one so this is a good kick off for what's still to come.

I know, but it doesn't fit in at all with the rest of his design.
My bad, I remembered Nagato in the manga having his hair shaded since it was a dark grey, but I misremembered that since his hair is just pure black in the manga. I guess they don't use shading on hair in mangas.
EDIT: Nevermind, Oda actually does use shading for some characters. Just look at Shanks' hair:

I don't see why he would give Kata no shading if his hair is supposed to be purple, and why would Cracker's hair be drawn white and Kata's hair be drawn black if they're both purple? I hope that Kata's anime color scheme is different from his manga color scheme, which I hope gives him black hair.

If Oda ever wants to make a power scale again, which I doubt because that is dangerous stuff. He needs to pick another unit of measurement because douriki would be off the charts by now. Sanji's concasse was barely enough to make Blueno's jaw budge on the sea train. He almost broke his leg against a pacifista pre-skip but took one out with a casual kick post skip.
So their strength might be tenfold since Enies Lobby or something. But that would look so bad for Lucci and previous opponents if that would ever be measured again.
Oda uses gray but he said in an interview once that he is not a fan of it so he uses it sparingly. I flipped through the latest chapter and it looks like he mostly uses it ti give shading to backgrounds , or to darken the less important characters in a scene.
But Katakuri's hair is such dark shade of purple, I think black is the more obvious pick in the manga. Also openings are not always even reliable on color schemes, some openings even have been readjusted after Oda came out with official color schemes.

Come to think of it, what was the point of making Robin's eyes in the anime blue instead of brown? I wonder.

It depends on what the author thinks looks better in black n' white. Judge's cap and Oven's color scheme is bright orange but Judge's cap is white while Oven is pitch black. BM and Reiju's hair is white in the manga but the pink suits of Tamago & Pekoms is pitch blank. Its all about visual appeal and showing patterns in the manga.
Toei really outdone themselves with this one. You can see the genga for this episode here

The episode really hit the feels, I'm not a big fan of this arc and this scene definitely surpassed the manga.
Yea the voice actors really brought it alive, Sanji's and Luffy's VO did a great job.
Those drawings are crazy. Beautifully done, interesting to see this before it is turned into an episode.
