[Discussion] Shanks Hype vs Kaido Hype

Kaido for me, the whole "falling from sky island" thing was done to hype him up, and hype him up it did.

Shanks' greatest hype is being the MC's mentor. His clash with WB and Akainu also add to his hype, but those are feats and they lead to debates (unlike pure undebeatable hype).

We've not seen enough of both crews to judge, but Shanks' crew seem to be closer to him, and are not division commanders/mini-captains (like the calamities). The calamities might be stronger than some of them, but Shanks' crew give off a more badass vibe.

Shogun and calamities aren't really hype considering the calamities will be on the same level as ace/marco/katakuri and the shogun is the shogun, he isn't Kaido or in his crew, but they do have ties. The only hype for Kaido is being unable to receive damage, and that he's the strongest creature. But even that isn't that great with how many times he's actually been defeated and captured. The difference between kaido and wb is that wb was the strongest MAN while Kaido is just the strongest creature.

As for shanks besides matching WBs haki, his hype is basically being one of the final opponents for luffy

It's only logical to say Shanks because of the delayed hype.

Shanks was there in chapter 1 and he will be relevant again in the end. And Big Mom and Kaidou have their hype now but they will go down before Shanks comes into play. And according to shounen logic that will mean you're stronger, if you're closer to the end.

Shanks' lack of hype and all the flying under the radar will mean he will make up for it later. These yonkou names have been dropped since water 7 but the real Big Mom and Kaidou hype is only like 50 chapters old at this point. So there is no point in rushing it.

Oda will bless Shanks with all the hype he needs when the time is right.

And I can make an argument for why marco > jack
And oda didn't say in a one on one bet on kaido, a character in the series did, and if you count that as oda than I guess oda also said chopper is the shs pets, which is completely wrong. And I didn't say shanks was the final opponent, I said ONE OF THE final opponents. So you argued with yourself on that one, congratulations. And shanks doesn't have to be an opponent, it's obvious he will be one of the very last people oda officially introduces again.
