I was about to set you straight, but whiteboy did it already. And she did exactly what he did: used weak jutsu at first. Itachi didn't come out with Susano'o, or even Amaterasu.

The praise you're referring to is Itachi calling Kurenai's blocking of his kick after biting her lip to escape genjutsu reflection "impressive". That is a feat even Shikamaru in part 1 was able to do, breaking a finger to escape Tayuya's genjutsu. There would be no reason for him to call her genjutsu weak, then praise her proficiency in it.

Sasuke may not have been good at genjutsu but he has the Sharingan buddy. If he can't reverse it, just break it.

I don't think Curse mark II is necessary, that's just overboard. 3T hits the spot bud.
