Nahhh, Love Cook is kinda right. Luffy reaching Emperor-level at 19 is just...ugly. I'd like to think Oda would have a better way of increasing Luffy's strength than the cliche "He's a main character, so his growth rate in 2 years is the same as decades for the other characters."
I think a lot of us would like that to be so but the way you talk it's as if it'd invalidate the story we've gotten if it goes the typical route of the MC growing stronger than all opponents. And Luffy's not Yonkou level at 19, he can't beat one yet 1 on 1(Maybe Shanks but unlikely) it'll probably be another year or so before he'd be able to beat one 1v1 and an early 20 something year old beating a 40 something year old isn't that outlandish.

It's disappointing how many people see this as some kind of progression through obstacles in a straight line all the way to Raftel. How boring and predictable would it be if Luffy just absorbs more and more power and become stronger in the next arc like he has some kind of Saiyan blood.
It was clear that in part 1 Luffy's strength had a cap and it was first shown at Enies Lobby. But still he had to manage a couple more arcs with the same amount of power zig zagging around the bigger obstacles like warlords and admirals towards the end of the pre-skip.
I hope it wont be any different now. I think Gear 4th has some more tricks to it maybe some variations, maybe some more in his haki arsenal. But I think that we've seen probably a large part of his capability post-skip already. I want One Piece to keep that sense of threat and that the New World is a scary place.
So I'm all for zig zagging towards the goal with alliances and team ups and not straight through the enemy with a nakama powered punch.
To the people complaining about Luffy's age and power.. well it's not like anyone expected him to beat Crocodile (who's had a history with Whitebeard), Moriah (who's had a history with Kaido), Don Chinjao (who's had a history with Garp)... but Luffy still won at the end of the day..
It wouldn't be "crap writing" if Luffy beats BM in this arc.. lol are y'all crazy? It would be great writing!
I don't expect Luffy to beat BM 1v1 this arc.. I expect him to have help of course.. but this doesn't change the fact that I think she should be defeated this arc. She needs to get her ass kicked here and now by Luffy.
Depending on how Oda wants to do things, she can still end up holding on to her Yonko title (for now).. I'm not saying she should die. Or she can lose her Yonko status after all.. maybe even the Marines will hear the news and lock her up..
Idk..
But either way, her conflict with Luffy should be wrapped up this arc.. on to the next Yonko, the next road poneglyph, etc..

Okay and what do you know about the "cap" on Kings Haki?
I'm sorry bro, but you're setting yourself up for dissapointment if you don't think Oda is going to have something pretty big and special planned for Luffy and his conquerors haki.

Doesn't take away from my point either.. you're in for a rude awakening (No pun intended) if you don't think Oda is going to do something epic with Luffy's haki.
If Shanks was casually causing physical damage to Whitebeard's ship, and then they both split the "heavens" (the clouds in the sky) with one simple clash, what makes you think Luffy's haki won't be a possible game changer in these upcoming fights against top tiers?
Maybe One Piece just isn't the manga for you bro..
Oh shit man that would be crazy to see if it happens! lol
Imagine how pissed she would be though haha xd

Just reading your posts makes my toes curl and deliver me pain just because of the sheer amount of nonsense.
You're so oblivious to all kinds of stuff that it is no use debating you because you don't understand it. There are so many ulterior motives that are lost on you, where you just go in straight like a blunt knife. The worst part might that on top of that you don't read, both the manga and the posts on this board. I said twice that I think that there is more to haki, but there you go again lecturing people on your little gospel of the most boring story ever.
I'm not sure if you were already typing that post about pre-skip and Crocodile while I was typing mine about Luffy's ceiling. But if you made that after reading mine than there really is no point in talking to you anymore because I'm afraid that a lot of things go over your head. And if you didn't read it before you posted you might want to read it again.
Also with respect, your not the type of person I would ask for literary advice. I've been reading One Piece for 12 years on a weekly basis, I'm not dropping it because of L ******* Beezy.

Except Moriah was slated to get weaker because he stopped training himself due to seeing power in zombies. Crocodile got as far as roughing small fry in the NW, and was spanked by Whitebeard, causing him to settle for Paradise and settling for average strength. Don Chinjao got sick during the tourney, reducing his powers. All of these have logical answers for how Luffy could exceed them. Luffy just making a climb in two years when it took Emperors decades of warfare and fighting to make that climb would be egregious.
It wouldn't be "crap writing" if Luffy beats BM in this arc.. lol are y'all crazy? It would be great writing!
There are multiple reasons it wouldn't be, including cliche power climbing, inconsistent power-scaling, and wasted world building. I'm not interested in debating this point much further with you, since you're gonna label anything as "LUFFY WINS" as great writing even if that means sacrificing other even greater story points.

And now I'm going to say this twice.. you're setting yourself up for dissapointment if you're hoping Oda doesn't do something epic with Luffy and his Haki.
For someone who loves to talk down on others about reading.. you haven't even answered my question to you..
Why don't you think Luffy's haki has the potential to be a game changer in his upcoming fights against top tiers?

Umm yeah.. your post and my post are literally 1 minute apart from each other... judging by the amount of words I typed and how my post had nothing to do with yours, and then my next post actually quoted yours, I think it's safe to say we were typing our posts around the same time...
Again, you actually end up being the one who looks like they have horrible reading comprehension at the end of the day..

The climb that took these Emperors decades of warfare and fighting is for the whole big picture of their Yonko status. The huge crew. The islands on top of islands of territory. The connections.
None of that has to do with Luffy being able to kick Big Mom's ass with the help of other characters there..
It would sill be very logical for Big Mom to be defeated this arc, by Luffy and co.
Plus the shortest rebuttal necessary would be if I just replied with one name, "Blackbeard".

Okay bro you don't have to.. no one is forcing you to reply on this forum..
We go through this back and forth all the time, and I can't persuade you just as much as you can't persuade me.
The "greater story points" you speak of are something only you and few others think even exist.. it's entirely your opinion and can't be spoken of as factual.
As far as I'm concerned, and many others, Luffy vs Big Mom makes WAY more sense right now than Big Mom vs Kaido.
