Buu had snapped out of a trance like state, he knew not how long it had been. Last he had been seen he was heading off in the direction of a strange and ominous roar, but something had drew him away. His inner sonar had picked up on the rhythmic sound of music deep in the forest away from the wall. Buu followed the sound until he found himself at a festival of people, sound and food. It was several days since he had arrived, but the people had finally dispersed, and he suddenly remembered what he had been doing prior.
He raced back to the direction he had first heard the roar. Upon his arrival it was clearly too late. A battle had taken place, and the area had been devastated. What had happened he wasn't sure, but his sonar skill failed to pick up on any remnant sounds. He deactivated the ability and surveyed the area. Dead bugs, a large crater from some sort of explosion, but no bodies and no beast to be found.
Where did every body go? Buu was looking for friends!
He might have normally thrown a tantrum at the disappointment, but the weariness of several days with no sleep had finally caught up to him. He let out a loud and exaggerated yawn and looked around. With no trees still standing to provide shade, the only place to escape the sun was at the base of the wall. Buu headed over and set up a mat to lay on. He shut his eyes and dozed off to sleep.
It was anything but a peaceful sleep. The moment his eyes shut he found himself in a Hell. It felt like no dream had ever had before, almost real. He could feel himself there, in the moment.
First there was war. Armies surrounded him on both sides as men and women charged at one another, slaughtering each other en masse. Their blood soaked the earth and trickled its way towards Buu, turning the green and brown a deep red. Buu leaped back and tripped falling into a pile of dismembered bodies, he screamed and cried and hid his eyes as he thrashed to get free from the decay.
He felt himself become free from the corpses and opened his eyes. He was somewhere else now, a town that was being burned to the ground. A child say in the street ahead of him with his head buried in his arms and knees. Buu heard him sobbing and moved to comfort him. He asked the boy where his parents were and the child pointed to a home with orange flames spilling out of the door and windows. Buu picked the child up and began to move. The sun became a glow behind a cloud of deep black smoke. The boy whispered something in Buu's ear, but he couldn't make out the words. Still it sent a chill down his spine. Buu went to a knee and put the child down, asking him what he said. The boy just smiled as his eyes turned red and his body turned to ash. A moment later the building beside him exploded sending him tumbling into another house on the opposite side of the street.
When he came to he found himself in a strange chair, his body tied down and incapable of movement. He tried to let out a yell for help but his mouth refused to move. He heard the tap...tap...tap of footsteps coming from behind him. He couldn't turn his head to see who was approaching, all he could see was what was in front of him. Jars with body parts sat on a shelf, some more with disfigured fetuses. A table held a series of vials with variously colored liquids. Buu looked down at his arm and saw a needle protruding from a vein. An odd looking serum filled the tube, Buu couldn't tell if it was coming out or going in. A hand gently palmed the back of his head as the figure started to come into view. Just before his face was reviewed Buu's vision went black again.
With a startle he woke in a grassy field. He was panting and sweating, was it just a dream? Confusion set it. He remembered falling asleep below the wall at the edge of the forest, but neither were there. He stood up and looked around, it was unusually bright. He could make out giant seals glowing just below the grass and just then the walls rose up. Higher and higher they stretched, before they were all that could be seen. More seals climbed their facade and glowed a dark purpose. The purple glow leaped off the walls becoming its own solid barrier, moving slowly closer towards Buu. From the glowing wall a sea of misshapen demons roared forwards, consuming him like an ocean of despair.
Once again Buu awoke with a yelp and a cold sweat. Heavy breathes paired with a rapid heart beat. He was back where he had fallen asleep. He looked forward at the barren crater that had once been forest, nothing and nobody in sight. He looked up and saw the endless wall looming over him. His heart sunk as fear consumed him.
No no no! Wall is EVIL! Get away, get away!
Buu scrambled and ran straight ahead, trying to get as far from the wall as he could. He passed through the crater and entered the forest beyond, stumbling and tripping over remnants of trees. He was sobbing uncontrollably until finally the trees were thick enough to hide the wall from his sight. He collapsed against a trunk and buried his face in his arms and knees, sobbing just like the boy from his dream. Or was it a vision? A memory? He could not tell.
Why....why did Buu see those things...
